Been to Torquay regularly down the years, but we missed last year due to other commitments. Couldn't believe the change. What has happened to the town? It is a dishevelled, shabby place. Now full of beggars, roadworks, and boarded up shops. Thoroughly depressing and I'm so sad to say that I will not be returning. It is a ghost of what it once was, the jewel in Torbay. Couldn't wait to leave..

Pleasant seaside situation, somewhat run down town centre, plenty of restaurants, very hilly, parking is a nightmare and at the moment there is reconstruction going on in the middle of town. It has a charm of a sort and some nice walks if fit. There is a reasonably good bus service to take you to other local towns - Dawlish, Teignmouth, etc - and there are quite a few beaches although as we visited in April and had a planned reason to stay we didn't visit any. Visitors need to choose their hotel carefully - we saw some examples of what might politely be called faded buildings.

Torquay happens to be the birth place of this Legend . Unfortunately our stay was short as this would be definitely on our agenda to do.

Torquay is very run down with a lot of homeless people. Bad roads, poor surfaces and many potholese. Very expensive parking. Parking at 6.30pm to 7,15pm cost £5. Excessive for the town centre when all the shops are closed and only parking for 45 minutes. I live in a very expensive area of SW London where parking is a fraction of that price.AAnonymous

Unusual attention to detail, for example, fresh milk and water for the room available self-service from a fridge in the dining room. Room itself was spacious, stylish and comfortable. Bathroom spotless and newly refurbished. Would definitely stay here again!

We loved the hot tubs, steam room n sauna too. We also thought the idea of the buffet breakfast was brilliant with a wide selection to choose from.
