Beautiful venue and location - really good breakfast
Situated in central Stoke-on-Trent, right across from the train station and 16 miles from Alton Towers Theme Park, the North Stafford Hotel boasts Jacobean-style architecture and well-equipped rooms...
The location plus the heritage aspect of the hotel

We went to Alton Towers which was great but extremely expensive and very crowded so only managed 3 rides, due to the queing times.
Didn't really see much more of Stoke apart from our hotel, which was very nice.

As previously stated - there was nothing positive in the slightest. However, on reading some other reviews (wish I’d read them before booking) it was reassuring to see similar comments and photographs. As for those people giving it 9/10 and 10/10 reviews are either from the hotel, or being paid to write a totally dishonest review. The place is desperate…and no matter how you try to dress it up - it is not fit for purpose and should be removed from booking.com

My husband chose the holiday.
My husband chose the holiday. I booked the hotel and its location as I was born in Stoke on Trent. It was near to Wedgwood World and other attraction we wanted to visit. The area has changed vastly since I lived there and we relied on a Satnav to get around by car. We stayed for 4 nights. On the last day we visited Trentham gardens shopping centre which was well worth the visit. However, we spent more time there and didn't get to see the gardens which were done by Capability Brown. The swimming pool we used to visit when I was a child was long gone and I would have been interested to visit the gardens. We would stay in this hotel again due to its convenient location.. Stoke on Trent is the 'Potteries'. It's industrial era cam to a close in the 20th century with its coal mines closes, pottery firms moved out and the Shelton steel works closed down. I haven't lived there for over 50 years and it was good to come back to see the town is still thriving. I did not visit the Stadium or Regent Theatre. I did visit Moorcroft and Middleton potteries. We would have visited Gladstone pottery but it was closed.

A wet gloomy day, we met great friendly people, at the bus stop, close to Holiday Inn.
Locals chatted and were most helpful.
Town was quiet, we were not interested in shopping.
Walked through the market,indoors.
The best coffee in the centre of town, served by friendly professional staff.
Bus driver back to hotel was very friendly.
A great visit.

If you have an interest in The production of China then Stoke is an ideal location. The potteries museum has a ver comprehensive collection of China through the ages as well as part of the Staffordshire hoard. A short distance from the city centre is the fabulous V&A Wedgewood collection.
From the moment we arrived, staff were friendly, professional and very helpful. The room, the bedding and towels etc. were absolutely spotless. Everything smelled clean, fresh and sanitized.
The meal times were a buffet-type affair (understandable, given the current restrictions) but the choice was acceptable and we found everything to be fresh - a little more choice for vegetarians would be good.
You can tell that this hotel would have been lovely and grand in the past and it has some really stunning features and function rooms.
Breakfast was hot anyway enjoyable for the hot selection, although we had no mushrooms throughout our stay and ran out of hashbrowns after only 1 Breakfast service, leaving two without either options. I eat a veggie hot breakfast so was a little disappointed. Your continental selection was fabulous. Staff were second to none. I normally stay at premier inn, and it was my first experience with the group. Let's just say I will be switching my hotel prefetence to Holidsy Inn/Express.
The receptionist on Sunday was super friendly and made checking in a doddle. Lovely clean room with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also spotless. A nice selection of food for the evening meal on Sunday night too. The property had warned of late music until midnight ahead of my arrival but either than got cancelled or they were miles away = I heard nothing..! As a cat-dad, meeting "Bella" the hotel cat at check-in was a highlight for me too.
This place is tucked away in a housing estate which seemed odd at first but its location is right next to the cricket club and the room look out onto the pitch which is fabulous. The hotel rooms were very clean and nicely decorated and the staff made sure our family we were in adjacent rooms. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly. It was a great location for our activities in Stoke like Waterworld and Bowling etc. We had a great stay!
From the moment we walked in and were met with such friendly , courteous and knowledgeable staff we knew we had made the right choice of hotel. The room was fantastic , just what we wanted and the quality and choice of breakfast was outstanding. A great location, a fantastic hotel which was only made better by the customer service provided by the staff. Well done Stoke Double Tree Hilton.
Comfy and spacious. Appreciated little touches - milk and choc in fridge. Very friendly, helpful & informative hosts. Why pay more for a Premier Inn/Travel Lodge when you can experience Holly Grove Farm! Would definitely recommend and will return.
The hotel was great, good location to train station and to the city center. Staff were warm and friendly, bed was very comfy. The food was lovely, breakfast was fantastic, good portions too. Overall,a great place to stay.
I was a bit concerned about the low review score but my room was fine. It's a half hour walk from Stoke station to Hanley, or about £6 by uber, or there are regular buses from outside the station.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful or kind - nothing was too much for anyone.
This is a cheaper hotel of course but the communal areas were comfortable and the rooms were fine 😊
Bed was comfortable, room itself was clean, great location for getting into Hanley. It was good value but be aware it's not a hotel, more like a hostel with private rooms.
Was decent and good price. Location is next to Lidl and Sainsbury's. Also next to fast food places and barber shops. 20min walk from Stoke station too.
