We like the hotel and the rooms are a really good size with a full size bathroom. Parking is plentiful although the bays are odd shaped so be aware for larger vehicles. Breakfast is buffet but can get busy so book.

We got off the plane in London and took a train to Southampton. By the time we got to the hotel, it was 11 a.m. but we'd been up for 26 hours at that point. I was going to throw myself on their mercy and take any room they had available, but our lovely suite was all ready for us! The bed was blissful, and the view was beautiful. We basically slept off our jet leg that day, but the late lunch and breakfast we had there was just lovely, as well.

A departure point for Isle of Wight ferries and grand cruise liners including the Queen Mary 2, Southampton is understandably centered around its port. But even if you’re passing through, the city has more than enough to make you want to stay awhile. The Hythe Ferry from the port passes Netley, site of a ruined abbey, and ends at Hythe Pier, home to the world’s oldest pier train.
There is much older history in the city center where the 15th-century city walls are amongs the most complete in England. Also remaining is the medieval Bargate gatehouse.
Just behind is the Bargate Shopping Center, while main street stores in the city center and West Quay are other Southampton shopping choices. As for entertainment, the city has great theaters, and Oxford Street has the best bars and restaurants. All are easily reached from the apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Southampton available on Booking.com.
There is also a surprising amount of green space in the city and its central parks is a historic site. Slightly further out is Southampton Common, whose Urban Wildlife Centre is worth a visit.
If you’re flying out of Southampton Airport, don’t leave without having visited the Maritime Museum or Archaeology Museum, both detailing the history of this long-established city.

The town centre has loads of shops and a large indoor shopping centre. There are several parks and lots of green space available. There was a huge choice of cafes, restaurants and pubs for all price brackets. We went to the 1865 club which holds lots of musical events. We were a bit concerned doing the 30 minute walk through the parks when the event finnished, however we saw at least 3 separate groups of police walking around the town and parks so felt very safe.

We had a really good stay with several nice meals, Found the people very pleasant and helpful. Really good shopping centres. Town was not too big and by the sea with several parks. There was something for all ages. Had all the major entertainments like cinema and ten pin bowling. Lovely museum and art gallery - well worth a visit.

Southampton is a little under-rated as an historic town.
Southampton is a little under-rated as an historic town. The walls are virtually complete on one side, there is one of England's best town gates and there are several old buildings to visit. The Art Gallery is just about the best south of London and the Sea City Museum is well worth a visit- especially for the Titanic story.

Southampton is a lovely city with a bustling town centre.
Southampton is a lovely city with a bustling town centre. It's famous for being the port from where the Titanic set off. I really like West Quay as a shopping mall - there's a lot of good places to eat at. I also like the entire stretch of High Street, there are weekly markets and also some pop ups stalls sometimes. The art gallery and library are free to enter, and you can also enjoy SeaCity Museum for a small fee. It's a wonderful city to walk in and just chill, but it's not as jam packed as London. However, from Southampton you can head to Winchester, the Isle of Wight, Brighton, Bournemouth, Beaulieu and more! There's also Paulton's Park which is home to Peppa Pig World. The buses are usually very efficient, and you have Uber or taxi services everywhere. All in all it's a great place to visit.

Southampton is like most cities in the UK.
Southampton is like most cities in the UK. Large shopping centre with various high street options and eateries. It has a leisure centre for swimming, plenty of gyms and large green spaces / parks to walk and talk in. It has strong ties to the Titanic story, as the ship left from one of the docks there. The museum is worth a visit. The Mayflower theatre has great shows on regularly.
Very nice, centrally located hotel. It's located near Southampton city centre (although a little bit to the side, which makes it slightly quieter), next to a park.
The room was comfortable, well equipped with everything that was listed, and the wifi was also stable and reasonably fast. I didn't try the breakfasts but dinner-wise the restaurant was alright. Check-in and check-out are avilable online if you want to streamline the process. Overall a very nice hotel to stay at, especially for buisness trips.
I was staying overnight with my daughter as we were attending Southampton University's open day. The hotel was a short 10-15 minute walk away, so ideally located. It is situated in the quieter suburb of Highfield, a 20-minute bus ride away from the hustle and bustle of Southampton city centre. The hotel has on-site parking which is definitely a bonus and one of the reasons for my booking. I had a couple of occasions where I had to speak to the staff on duty, both of who were very helpful and accommodating.
My wife and I booked this hotel as a stopover to Southampton to start our cruise. It’s an ideal location. For travellers to cruise terminals. The hotel itself is stunning, it has obviously undergone a lot of renovation and the decor is stunning whilst in keeping its original features. The staff were fantastic , especially Nick . The breakfast ( not kidding) was perfect , Bacon was cooked to perfection
The room was very clean and well put together, and we appreciated the complementary drinks. The location of the hotel, while an approximately 25 minute walk from the train station, was close to the best parts of Southampton. Breakfast was top notch. We stayed in around 8 hotels in this England trip, and this one had one of the best menus for breakfast.
The Pig is an excellent hotel. This is the second time I have stayed at The Pig in the Wall in Southampton.
I hope to try some of their other hotels around the country.
Two things I would change are: a later checkout. 11am is far too early when you cannot check in until 4pm.
And onsite parking should be at no cost.
Charging feels mean.
Charming hotel with Titantic motif. Lovely bar/restaurant. Food was good and staff was excellent.
Location was good and situated on a street which was cordoned off for pedestrian walking. Not too far from anything.
Had a special charm and nice decor. Pre-arrival, staff was excellent in addressing questions and offering suggestions..
Large free car park - unlike the Premier Inn at Southampton airport which not only charges for the car park but it’s too small for all the guests so you end up driving round looking for somewhere to park.
Large soap dispensers provided by sink and in shower - no single use plastic in bathrooms like some hotels.
Hotel was booked prior to a cruise originating in Southampton. The hotel is good , staff very helpful and friendly . Many attractions like parks and museums within walking distance and the hotel enjoys being within close reach of the cruise terminals but far enough away to allow the city to be enjoyed.
Amazing hotel with a great concept. Large room with excellent facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great location for the port and cruise ship holidays, walking distance to all terminals.
Set in the old town of Southampton, with lots of great restaurants.
The room was super clean. The staff were amazing! Professional, polite and smiling all the time!
The hotel’s location is perfect, in the city center just 4 minutes from the bus stop.
I enjoyed staying here to the max, thank you to the grapes staff!
Pleasantly surprised after my visit to the Holiday Inn in Southampton City. The property was clean, the room was comfortable and breakfast was lovely and fresh. Good price too.
This was a great find - lovely hotel and location to the city centre. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast was exquisite, the coffee top ups seem me up for the day!
Location was close to an event. Options for food in the surounding area were decent, nothing to do with the hotel though. Booking.com handled our refund quickly.
The staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good. The hotel is in the High St and convenient for the centre of Southampton and the train station.
