Stayed for a wedding. The accommodation was very comfortable. Pool, jacuzzi, and sauna facilities very welcome the next day. Breakfast pretty good. Room neat and spacious. Location is very pretty -- very golf-orientated. The staff took very good care both of me and of the wedding party overall.

FAQs about hotels in Plymouth

Life By the Ocean Wave

From prehistory to the present, the very essence of Plymouth has been inextricably linked to the sea. The Pilgrim Fathers departed from here and named their new Massachusetts settlement after it, and Sir Francis Drake famously finished his game of bowls on The Hoe before combatting the Spanish Armada.

Western Europe’s largest naval base – HMNB Devonport – is in its natural harbour, and in The Barbican fishing boats bob up and down by cobbled streets lined with historic buildings. Jacka Bakery here is the oldest in Britain and there are plenty of galleries, bars and restaurants, though Union Street has the best nightlife.

At one end of the street is the Theatre Royal, and from the other ferries depart to France and Spain, passing the Mount Batten peninsula and offshore rocks that once housed Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, now in Hoe Park next to the Royal Citadel.

Overlooking the park is the Lord Mayor’s residence, once home to Waldorf and Nancy Astor, and other street and building names are reminders of Plymouth’s illustrious connections.

Other attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, the City Museum and Art Gallery and Grade II-listed Saltram House. All are easily reached from Booking.com’s Plymouth accommodation, including luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap guest houses and country houses with parking.

Plymouth is a lively and interesting city in a spectacular coastal location. The view from the Hoe looking out over the harbors to the neighboring sea is breathtaking. We stayed in the Barbican area right on the water above the Mayflower Steps at the Admiral McBride pub. The National Aquarium and Mayflower Museum are only steps away plus numerous restaurants, bistros, pubs, and shops. Plus it’s the home of Sir Francis Drake. The Town Centre was an easy walk uphill. Several car hires are within easy walking distance as well if you plan to visit neighboring Cornwall.

The main entrance has two short flights of stairs up to reception and no lift in that part of the building. Difficult for people with heavy luggage etc and the back entrance is confusing for new visitors (ok once you get a feel for the place). A couple of days in Plymouth itself is probably enough but the hotel is conveniently close to both the train station and bus depot making it easy to do day trips to Exeter, Penzance, Torquay, Totnes etc

Plymouth Hoe is a wonderful place to walk plenty of history.to indulge in. The barbican is a short walk from the Hoe where you will find restaurants and pubs. I would avoid the city centre until after the improvements are finished.

The city centre itself isn't very beautiful.

The city centre itself isn't very beautiful. However, the city part near the old harbour is quite nice. And Plymouth serves very well as a starting point for trips to adjacent cities and towns in Devon and Cornwall. There are very good bus and train connections, even outside the touristic season. The landscapes in Devon and Cornwall are quite beautiful indeed, with gently rolling hills and marvellous seasights!

The location was fantastic right on Plymouth Hoe and close to everything needed (pub, shops, city centre). The hosts, Pete and Andy, were brilliant. They communicated well before, during and after our stay and were very helpful with parking, which was really convenient. The apartment is clean and lovely with nice towels and comfy beds. Also great for dog owners due to a secure garden which was perfect. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a stay in Plymouth

This is a lovely bed and breakfast. Paul, the owner, was very attentive to the needs of his guests. Room was beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast had wonderful options and the breakfast room was very pleasant. Location was safe and walking distance to all the sites, but also quiet and secluded enough to not feel like you're in the middle of a tourist location. The whole inn has such nice decorations of Plymouth. I highly recommend booking here.

The hotel had a very difficult function to manage at the time of my stay, whilst still providing a service to those staying at the hotel and supporting restaurant bookings. They were absolutely excellent and managed a very difficult situation with minimum staff and dealing with some very challenging situations. AAAA+++ Excellent teamwork.

I liked the location - only a two minute walk from Plymouth Hoe. Apartment was spacious and with good facilities. I chose the property because it offered good value for money compared to the very high prices for hotels in the area, including basic offerings like Travelodge. For less money, I got a whole apartment and a great location.
