First class hotel. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful, comfortable room and excellent food. We were driving south from Scotland to Liverpool to join a cruise ship, unfortunately due to bad weather conditions our itinerary was changed and we elected not to sail. I rang the hotel on our way back north and were delighted that they were able to give us the same room. Would definitely stay at Roundthorn again.

Free parking and a bar on site were positives as was the central location. The advert said that it was a larger than average room but including the bathroom it was no more than 13ft by 8 ft. There was no table or chairs so not a pleasant area to spend any time. The bottom of the outside of the shower had ingrained dirt.

Penrith town very nice and quaint!

Penrith town very nice and quaint! The locals were lovely - in the bars, hotel and on the streets. We visited Coniston lake and enjoyed it. Very pretty. nice cafe and food. boat trip very good. Went to see Arthur's Round Table! Delightful. Nice hotel for coffee opposite.

    Penrith is a lovely town.

Penrith is a lovely town. It has all the facilities you need such as supermarkets, bars and restaurants. I was impressed with the cleanliness too. It is an ideal place to stay in to explore The Lakes as well as castles nearby.

Nice buildings with lots of character.

Nice buildings with lots of character. No huge shops but loads of smaller varied places. The town was alive and generally well kept. Good range of eating places and some really good pubs. The town is not huge, so once there everything is easy to walk. It's not particularly hilly, though heading for the castle is uphill.

Penrith is a great little town close to Ullswater , plenty of restaurants and independent shops. The house itself is close to town centre and pay parking. Free street parking is available a short distance ( uphill) away.it is a lovely house for a family , well equipped and clean - books and games for adults and children. We are highly likely to stay again.

Lots of free parking and the apartments are in a very quiet, out of the way farmland. The place is extremely comfortable and when we had an issue with the dryer not working it was replaced within 24 hours. (great response time). We should have stayed longer as this place has everything that you need. There is a wonderful tiny pub about 3 minutes drive away that does great food (The Globe Inn is open most evenings). The location suited us as we were doing some ancestry research in and around the area between Penrith and Carlisle.

Very pleasant and clean single room with lovely old furniture and a very comfortable bed at the back of the hotel overlooking the park. Nice and quiet. Tea and coffee making stuff in the room. Glad I asked for a quiet room, as I suspect the rooms at the front may suffer a little traffic noise from the busy street outside. The hotel is perfectly located for arriving by train, 2 mins walk from the station and close to the rest of the facilities in the town centre.

When we arrived in Penrith, we had booked a hotel for the wrong date. Tracy was extremely accommodating letting us stay for the night in one of the best rooms she had available. The bathroom was absolutely beautiful and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional. Tracy again going above and beyond to make us comfortable welcome and meeting our requests. A fantastic day we would definitely come in again

Welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Comfortable spacious room with seats as well as beds (unlike YHA). Decent sprung mattresses without rubbery covers (again unlike YHA). Clean well-designed kitchen. Not far from town centre yet in a quiet area. Dry room and bike storage (even though I didn't need these on this occasion). Nice fluffy towels available to hire very cheaply if you don't have your own.

Really great B&B. Friendly welcome, lovely room, comfy bed, and terrific full English Breakfast.. free WiFi (that worked well) lots of sockets, lovely shower and well located in the town centre for pubs and restaurants. This was a last minute panic booking, as my usual hotel was fully booked and I think I got a lower price than usual But would love to stay again next time I'm in Penrith even at full price.

Well located in the centre of Penrith, which has a lot of history well worth looking out. Ample parking at rear of the hotel, and good-sized room. Very hearty and filling breakfast, and friendly and helpful staff on hand. Glad there was a fan in the room (no A/C), as it was a very hot and sultry day. Plenty of places to eat in short walking distance if you don't fancy what the hotel has to offer.

Abbey House is an outstanding place to stay. Vickie was so welcoming and had thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible even to having a chocolate and fluffy robes. It felt very luxurious. The room and bathroom was spacious with a huge comfy bed. The breakfast was delicious. I can't praise our stay enough.
