Free parking and a bar on site were positives as was the central location.
The advert said that it was a larger than average room but including the bathroom it was no more than 13ft by 8 ft. There was no table or chairs so not a pleasant area to spend any time. The bottom of the outside of the shower had ingrained dirt.

Penrith is a lovely town.
Penrith is a lovely town. It has all the facilities you need such as supermarkets, bars and restaurants. I was impressed with the cleanliness too. It is an ideal place to stay in to explore The Lakes as well as castles nearby.

Nice buildings with lots of character.
Nice buildings with lots of character. No huge shops but loads of smaller varied places. The town was alive and generally well kept.
Good range of eating places and some really good pubs.
The town is not huge, so once there everything is easy to walk. It's not particularly hilly, though heading for the castle is uphill.

Penrith is a great little town close to Ullswater , plenty of restaurants and independent shops. The house itself is close to town centre and pay parking. Free street parking is available a short distance ( uphill) away.it is a lovely house for a family , well equipped and clean - books and games for adults and children. Lovely Old Market Town with some lovely old buildings...
Lovely Old Market Town with some lovely old buildings including the penrith library and the good vibrant night if you want one with also some lovely little quiet pubs and a fantastic shop called the toffee Shop makes the best fudge and toffee I've ever tasted
If you fancy homecooked Cumbrian food this is the place to stay and you will enjoy high qiuality raw matrerials used by an excellent cook. Very service minded staff, which is the couple that has converted their home into a B&B. Not the standard of a modern hotel but it clealry has its charm. Located in a quite street a short walk uphill from the town center. On the back side it is only a short walk to the forrest recreactional walking paths. A large garden is nice to be in if the weather allows.
2nd trip to Roundthorn hotel. 1st time we stayed in the hotel, this time in one of the 2 bedroom apartments for 3 nights. Loved the standard of the apartment, especially the spacious living area. Free scone with the latte is still a nice touch. Eating dinner next to a log fire surrounded by christmas decorations was delightful. Going to look into staying next christmas/new year as we've been told the parties are great fun. Staff are probably the friendliest of any hotel we've ever stayed in.
Great restaurant/breakfast service
Recycling bins in room
Water fountains on floors of hotel to refill bottles
Had Decaf tea on offer
Swimming pool was good
Handy location off motorway and walking distance to Penrith
Clean and the rooms/general decor was nice
Fire pit outside with a Herb garden
WiFi was good enough for streaming catch up.
Hotel was situated across the road from the bus stop and railway station and was a short walk into town center. Had a great view of Penrith Castle from our bedroom. Didn't eat there so can't comment on food. Bedroom was clean and comfy and shower hot. The bar was lovely and oldie world and we enjoyed chatting to friendly locals.
Everything, was just perfect, we were showen to our room, booked a table for everything , the food was delicious, beds very cosey, bathroom immaculate, would love to return, great value for money, free Parking at back of hotel,, very friendly , helpful staff, nothing was a problem, would recommend to everyone. Loved it ,
Very handy for the centre of Penrith and a great choice of pubs and restaurants. Loved the decor and facilities inside. Excellent secure parking for our motorbike. Sean and Tracy were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Great choice of continental breakfast catering for a wide range of dietary requirements.
Breakfast is good, and is included in the price (otherwise we wouldn't have it but would get something in town). Parking is easy, fairly cheap, and very close. The hotel is very close to the town centre, which is good, as Penrith is (for us) a worthwhile town to potter around and spend money.
The breakfast menu offering, quality and quantity was excellent, cooked and served with care and a smile. Check-in was efficient and a pleasant experience. Room was clean and well prepared. Would highly recommend this venue to anyone staying or passing through the area.
The hotel is a couple of miles outside Penrith in a lovely quiet village. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room had a good selection of teas and coffee and nice biscuits! We ate at the pub in the evening and it was very good, as was breakfast.
A beautiful old hotel. We had a 4 poster, very spacious, queen room. It was close to Penrith castle ruins, on street coffee and bakery and good restaurants. Parking is a bit of an issue, but the hotel has a good solution to assist with parking dilemas.
Christel was so accommodating to us. We were very tired from our flight from Canada and then the train to Penrith. Christel made us tea and coffee and answered all our questions for us. Would definitely recommend this b&b.
Good hotel in great location in the centre of Penrith. Private car park at rear. Cosy room with comfy bed. Excellent choice of fresh food at breakfast. Hotel bar was lively on Friday and Saturday night.
Breakfast was fine and quite substantial. Dinner had a good selection and was well cooked.
The location was a bit hard to find and a lot further from Penrith that we were expecting
We were a group of 5 friends staying for 3nights while going to the nearby festival. Beautiful accomodation, well equipped, lovely and clean. Centrally located for all amenities.
