Definitely need a car to get around this area. Not quite the luxury I was looking for. Accomodation and breakfast where I stayed was fairly basic. Quite limited in eating out options too. Managed to walk the Pen y Fan which was the highlight of my stay here.

Nice town with some lovely places to go for a drink and a bite to eat. Friendly bar with live music at the weekend. Also there is a Wetherspoon. The Zip World was only a 30 min drive away and is fantastic. Great scenery and walks near by.

Only stayed 2 days and then was at an event so not enough time to explore. However on an evening plenty of places to eat and drink. Tesco Extra and range of other shops incl. Saturday street market. Train and bus transport hub, and plenty of places to explore a short distance away.

Liked the fact it has good public transport links to the Brecon Beacons the town itself looks a bit run down in places like many these days but had everything we needed with lots of things to do nearby. We enjoyed climbing Corn Du, Pen Y Fan, visiting Lyn Cwm Llwch, walking along parts of the Taff Trail, visiting The Brecon Mountain Railway, Cyfarthfa Castle and park as well as things further a field.

Great places to visit. We where only there for two nights. We enjoyed the waterfalls and the steam train ride. There are plenty of places to eat out. We saw lots of cyclists whilst traveling in our car. Found the area very dog friendly which suited us .

Visited the nearby reservoir and Garwnant Visitors

Visited the nearby reservoir and Garwnant Visitors Centre -lovely trails and views. Also the Brecon Beacons were within easy reach. We ate at Nant Ddu the first night and shared 3 tasty side dishes between us. Not too far from 3 near locations where my Dad was born and lived in Penwhriceiber, Cefn Pennar and Mountain Ash. Able to visit as near.

Excellent hosts sharing plenty of tips for hikes in this area and also other parts of Wales (Gower and St Davids). They also suggested the Big Pit National Coal museum, which I found a must-do to understand the industrial history of the area. Excellent breakfast, lots of choice. Comfortable bed and room. Very clean. Also had a UK adapter in the room for charging devices (in case you'd forgotten it or wanted to charge multiple). Parking on the premises.

Attention to detail and going the extra mile. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. Although you have your own washing machine and it’s a self contained flat the hosts still came and serviced your room as though you were in a hotel….these people certainly know hospitality I loved my stay. Merthyr has some lovely walks but be prepared for some hills! It is Wales after all 😅 The castle and the grounds are beautiful.

A quirky place to stay, well thought out for a holiday home. Hot tub was a good addition, and the outside space is nice. Location is convenient for getting to Brecon and Bikepark Wales. Secure shed for bikes. The fish and chip shop round the corner is very good. Owner was friendly and available. Property was clean. I would definitely stay again.

Loved the amount of space you get for parking and open space. Bike lockup was spot on and not noticable. Living room was great so was the kitchen. Bedrooms were spot on with a large bathroom. Location was fantastic. 10 minutes from BPW. Nice and quiet high up in the hills. We didn't struggle with takeaways. We'll definitely be back next year.

This is a fantastic property to stay in. We loved the quirkiness, the games room was fantastic, the outdoor area was lovely, the beds were super comfy and the quality of the linen and towels equal to a hotel stay, plus dogs are welcome. Finally the home grown honey from the owners bees was a beautiful touch. We will definitely return.

Place was presented nicely and it was very clean. Lovely Vue from the kitchen. Location was good with sports bar and a spar across the road and no more than a 15 minute drive to Pen Y Fan. Messaging the owners was easy they replied quickly and where helpful. Great value for money.

Lovely quiet location. Warm, clean and well equipped. Lynne has thought of everything. I visit bike park Wales regularly and have definitely found the perfect base. I won't be using hotels again. The shed exceeded my expectations and as a lone traveller it also felt very safe.

The site is located a short distance to many of the trails in the Brecon Beacons, which is great if you want to go hiking but make sure you have dinner before returning home for the night as there are no restaurants nearby. The rooms were a good size and very quiet at night.
