The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.
A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.
A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.
Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.
The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

LLandudno is ideal for day trips or short, perhaps two day, visits. There are bus services to other locations so visits to other towns are possible if Llandudno becomes dull. There is not a lot to do, I found.
If you are feeling fit, the walk to the top of the Great Orme takes around an hour with a coffee shop on the top. If walking is not an option you can take the tram up and/or down, which is recommended. The car park at the top is a bit expensive. There is also a service bus to the top.

The staff where excellent, but facilities where few.
The staff where excellent, but facilities where few.
I would definitely not advise disabled people to use it. The stairs at the front entrance are lethal plus they only had WiFi in certain parts of the hotel, usually near reception. Nothing in the rooms. There was no entertainment till the summer. The hotel itself was very comfortable but these little things spoiled our stay.
The Grand is well located. The staff were always so polite and helpful. I am Gluten intolerant and they made sure I had toast and sausage brought from the kitchen every day. We had a large family Premier room as my husband is in a wheelchair.the room was spacious and clean with a lovely sea view over the pier.
The Hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment both in and out. Yes it is old but it has character.
Entertainment most nights.
Great location to Llandudno attractions.
The Hotel staff were all friendly and attentive throughout our stay.
We stayed in a King size room with Sea view which was beautifully clean with the comfiest of beds.
Breakfast was a continental buffet and staff taking orders for a cooked breakfast which freshly made to order and delicious!
We will definitely be returning in the future
The seafront location and surrounding countryside were beautiful. We were pleasantly surprised that our twin room had 2 double beds.
The check in staff were helpful and polite and the room was spacious. On this occasion it suited our needs as we didn't spend much time in the hotel. The beds were comfortable and clean and housekeeping did a good job of refreshing our room.
The owners were really nice. The hotel is ideally situated for the centre of Llandudno. Our room was a en suite room and had TV, tea/coffee in the room. Plenty of space with a large double bed. The breakfast was incredibly good (full Welsh) and kept us going all day. Probably one of the best we've had. We would definitely come back again.
Period charm building with friendly staff. Lovely sea view room with a very comfortable firm-matress bed. My tea & biscuits replaced the 2nd day. Cooked breakfast was superb & nice big reception lounge area to sit & wait with family.
Extremely good value for the quality of hotel, definitely will re-book next time in Llandudno.
Suburb b&b. Spotless, comfortable, warm welcome.
Absolutely outstanding and will be returning.
Warner leisure CEO should visit this establishment to be shown how to run their hotels!
More than 5 stars...what more can we say!
We honestly feel that this establishment should receive an award from Llandudno tourism board.
I have stayed at Ashdale Guest House twice before and it has always been a great experience - this time was no exception. Spotlessly clean throughout, dog friendly with easy parking which can't be said about all Llandudno guest houses and hotels. The breakfast is superb and your furry friend will be served a sausage.
Easy to find - ample parking adjacent - efficient check in
Generous room with sea view
Comfy bed
Tea making facility - with biccies
Modern bathroom - plenty of fluffy towels and complimentary shower gel etc
Nice bar area and outdoor seating available
good breakfast with plenty of variety
Great hotel, staff , owner all wonderful no complaints at all,
breakfast just right everything you wanted, clean comfy room, and
the location 5 minutes from the beach. the owner Selina was A+
as well as the staff, definitely will be staying there again..5 stars....
We love Llandudno and often visit for an overnight or weekend stay, the location of the hotel is perfect, and sea view rooms are lovely. The staff are always pleasant and friendly, although the request of photo ID to book in is a tad over the top, in my opinion.
There is a lack of good hotels in Llandudno. The Esplanade is well located and our stay was pleasant. It seems to be undergoing renovations, which are probably overdue. Be sure to book for dinner and don't miss the cable railway!
Large hotel right on the sea front with everything Llandudno has to offer on the doorstep, great and helpful staff, also the restaurant has sea views, very clean and with entertainment at night it was a very enjoyable stay.
The breakfast was buffet style and was good quality. The hotel is on the seafront near the pier end which is the ideal location for a stay in Llandudno. We found all the staff we encountered to be very friendly and smiley
The hotel is just by the beach. The best location I have ever been near sea side. The room was very big and super comfortable. The sea view from the room was just amazing. I will definitely recommend everyone.
Room with beach view, bed very comfy, room clean .
Tea, coffee, biscuits.
Hangars in wardrobe.
10 minute walk into Llandudno town centre.
Car parking on road outside hotel, never had issue with parking.
