Kendal is a lovely market town gateway to the Lakes.
Kendal is a lovely market town gateway to the Lakes. Plenty individual shops. Fab cafes, coffee shops and pubs. Lovely walks to the river, castle ruins and hills, super transport links to Lake Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside and Grasmere. All tickets on 555 bus currently £2 per journey.

The town of Kendal is great and this flat is well located to access the town centre etc. I was disappointed with my accommodation as a very poorly equipped kitchen, poor water pressure in kitchen sink, tacky decor and bizarre unintelligible smart door handles.

Kendal has lots to offer visitors and is an ideal place to stay, away from the crowds in the central Lakes. Lots of walking accessible by good public transport, avoids taking the car and trying to find somewhere to park. Although Kendal was not the most picturesque of the towns we visited in the Lake District (the competition is stiff), it still had a lot of charm and no shortage of good shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés. It made an excellent base for seeing the Lake District on public transport. We arrived by rail in late October and used Stagecoach buses for the duration of our stay. The buses were clean, comfortable and reliable, with charging points on the buses. The bus network was very easy to use, with the option to buy tickets and get bus times through the Stagecoach app.

Super modern, clean and the little touch's such as complimentary Kendal Mint Cake in each room along with other complimentary items made it that extra special. This is a great location for visiting Lake Windermere and other surrounding areas which are all equally as beautiful. Also lots of restaurants/pubs around in short walking distance which is great. The accommodation was outstanding. The townhouse had on suite bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen with dining area to accommodate all 7 adults and a very comfortable lounge. Throughout the decor was tastefully done . Would definitely recommend staying here. Standard of food at dinner was good although for the money portions could have been bigger especially the starter. Service at both breakfast and dinner was good (should say that at both the times we went in the restaurant was not very busy.) Managed to park right opposite the front door but that was only later in the day after we had already hauled our luggage up the hill from the lower car park.

The room was spacious and the bed was so comfy. The location was perfect with quite a few local walks for you to start right in Kendal without having to drive.
