It’s very easy to reach Gloucester from the hotel especially if you like shopping at the Gloucester Quays. Found it very handy to get to Stroud and Painswick as well and the M5 motorway.
I personally wouldn’t use the bistro pub for meals at the Gloucester quays- the high orchard. Microwave meals with the wrong prices still in the menus and bar staff manager who couldn’t give a toss.
Cheltenham is nice to eat in if you fancy a day out and lots of dog friendly places too.

We wanted lots of choice of food and night time entertainment . Although the food we had was good in the main it was the usual branded restaurants. Night time bar entertainment very limited. Not very much high octane adventure to be had here. Won’t be rushing back

Yes gloucester is a nice area.
Yes gloucester is a nice area. But I would avoid staying at the new Inn, the management isn't fit for purpose. I've bren in other places with better management and more customer awareness. Management highly sensitive, room needs refurbishment. Just remember if you do stay there avoid saying something management doesn't like at the new inn, or you end up with a wooden bed, no shower or mattress. They get your money and you get free accommodation from his majesties police force. Don't waste your money, there is better accommodation in the area. Otherwise the area has great views, canal walks, and walks in general. And other stuff going on for it. It's a gorgeous place

Gloucester and the people are wonderful and friendly.
Gloucester and the people are wonderful and friendly. The views are amazing, if you live in the city and want a break this is the place to visit. The designer outlet is amazing too full great products at great prices.
The hotel is set about 15 minutes away from Gloucester City Centre (via car). its lovely, idllyic and quiet. The staff did the best they could and they deserve a lot more credit for all their hardwork and efforts.
I loved the heated indoor pool, the heated jacuzzis and the heated hot jacuzzi (which was for adults only). The staff member that eventually gave us a remote on Sunday night (thank you very much), the ladies that help sort out breakfast are absolutely a credit they’re so warm and professional.
The hotel is located out of Gloucester but still within easy range of the centre. Rooms are a good size and very clean and the bar serves a range of beers and other alcoholic beverages. Out through the doors from the bar is a large external seating area with plenty of tables to sit at. The area is served by a handy food trailer where Burgers, Pizzas, Hot dogs and Fries can be purchased. there are plenty of parking spaces.
Original booking was for The Central Hotel but got moved to The County Hotel about 3 weeks before our trip due to the other hotel being taken over for a corporate booking. We were promised rooms of a better standard and size.Wasn't our 1st choice and wouldn't choose to stay again. The location for shops, bars and the quays is good from the County Hotel. Microwave and fridge in room was handy.
First of all, we need to understand that the building is actually really old. Everything in the building takes you back 100 years: the walls, the floor, the windows. The building is a piece of art. Really nice and full of character. The staff were very helpful and tried to attend all our requests. Breakfast was also very good and the hotel is right in the center of Gloucester.
It was in a handy location, close to Gloucester City centre and Gloucester Quays. Despite being by a busy main route it was pleasantly quiet and tranquil. Our room was lovely and clean. Bed was SUPER COMFY!!! FREE WIFI! Bottled water in fridge, kettle and hairdryer! The self check in was handy. Building had character.
This has become my favourite hotel in Gloucester area. The staff are excellent, especially in the restaurant. The food - breakfast and dinner - is delicious. After a hard day, sitting in the peaceful garden with a cup of tea and a book is like being on holiday.
Typical Holiday Inn room. Large television screen. Correct bathroom but a little small. Breakfast ok. Hotel located on the outskirts of Gloucester which allows you to visit the city (15 minutes drive), visit the Costwolds, or dine Chetenham near the center.
Nothing our stay was ruined by a rude and unprofessional bar man called steve who refused to accept he was wrong and insulted us repeatedly
We will never return to this hotel again
However the nice lady manager rectified the problem the next morning.
room: very tidy, well equiped, clean, quiet, etc.
location: in the middle of Gloucester, 10 min walk to the railway and/or bus station, restaurants and shops very near
staff: very friendly
Very convenient location at the Gloucester Quays. Well stocked kitchen and apartment was very comfortable. Well laid-out apartment for use of the living room and TV for a pleasant stay.
