Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was sufficient to set us up for the day. The Inn is in a quiet hamlet outside Dorchester and as such is centrally situated for touring Dorset.

We really enjoyed the ambiance of the tea room & its history. We were overwhelmed with our room with its period style furniture & tapestry. Deb was a fabulous host with lots of charm and charisma. Our breakfasts were delicious with plenty of variety, including a cooked breakfast with pastries, fruit and yoghurt. A truly wonderful place to stay. Definitely recommend.

The proprietor Noorani was so kind, welcoming, and helpful. She is also an amazing cook! So lovely to be right in the heart of Dorchester. I really appreciated Noorani’s knowledge of the history of the town and region, which is fascinating.

Dorchester has the feel of a small town with many delightful...
Dorchester has the feel of a small town with many delightful old buildings, cafes, pubs and restaurants, all seemingly selling good food. There are many museums in and around the town centre, often easy to get to on foot. There is Roman history here, medieval too, a long military heritage and of course the dinosaurs of the famous Jurassic coast. Too many things to do in just one weekend, and many more attractions only a short car-drive away. The shops? - Well we never had time to explore them!

The Dorchester Museum is excellent.
The Dorchester Museum is excellent. We called in just to find out about the Iron Age fort and ended up learning so much more. Everything is very clearly displayed and explained in enough detail, but not too much. There are some remarkable Roman mosaics, a good overview of a fascinating history of the area, and an interesting section about Thomas Hardy. We were there in cold, wet February weather, so outdoor activities didn’t suit the weather. At different times of the year the outdoor activities in the area have great promise.

We only went for my cousin wedding at the towns registry office, that was a very good experience. We had intended to look around the town on the following day but the weather was so foul we travelled back home.
The town for what we saw had some wonderful historical building, and we would have liked to explored more

An important county town, oozing history, good restaurant options and fine shops. The Council provides helpful parking. The District Hospital was one of the best NHS performers I have experienced, thankyou. Don't miss the museum.
You rarely stay somewhere that exceeds expectations. The space available for 2 people was amazing. If they had a roll away you could easily take 3. Not far from Dorchester and easy access to the places of interest in Dorset. On site car parking and Tolpuddle itself is a lovely Dorset village. The host provided lots of info on eateries etc. And offered to help with any questions. Pricewise you may think the Tolpuddle is more than you usually pay. Dorset is not a cheap holiday area so keep this in mind.
The location of Clematis House was perfect for us, in a very pretty village, just a few minutes from Dorchester and a superb base for seeing Dorset. The house was extremely clean and comfortable and was very well equipped to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The information booklet was comprehensive and contained all the information that we required. The property has a beautiful courtyard garden and is very quiet and peaceful. The welcome tray from the owners was much appreciated.
Ideal location if you want to be in the centre of Dorchester. Excellent choice of pubs, restaurants etc. Busy, buzzy small county town with good choice of shops including a Waitrose, local museums, all within walking distance.
17th C hotel has historic connections, with nicely decorated rooms, pretty rear garden with a conservatory to sit and eat breakfast. Breakfasts are freshly cooked and you are looked after in a friendly and hospitable fashion by the owners and staff.
We stayed in one of the family rooms which was very spacious. There were two rooms, one with a double and the other two singles. It was clean, with crisp white sheets and very comfortable beds.
The breakfast was delicious as well as the food in the evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we loved the location in a pretty village, lovely countryside but also a stones through from Dorchester.
Thoroughly recommend!
Stayed here for 2 nights. Only 5 mins from Dorchester and 25 mins from Weymouth.
It is a wonderful place-a beautiful Hotel with amazing views, quiet, wonderful staff, amazing breakfast with lots of options, large bath towels, bedroom large and was 100% clean and COVID safe,
gorgeous gardens and can sit out, homemade choc brownies and water complimentary in the room.
Highly recommend
Tip-you can order fresh milk from front desk,
The property is situated in a quant setting by the riverbank surrounded by the beauty of nature. Yet,Dorchester and a vast choice of dining area are within just a few miles. The contrast of which offers both the still and peace of the property location and then those seeking a more lively visit, have the bustle of fine eateries within reaching distance.
Such a lovely hotel, the staff were so friendly and helpful, our room was really great with a fan already set up and on as it was a hot day, the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We walked to the kings arms for dinner as the hotel is centrally located for Dorchester and we would definitely go back. Wonderful ambience.
Good country inn situated in small village in middle of Dorset, a little further from Dorchester than we expected but enjoyed exploring. Had a good "buzz" during the evening since used by locals.
Good range of food served during evening and what we had was tasty and nicely presented.
The location, the food and the helpfulness of some of the staff was great. The bed was comfortable and the hotel is in an excellent location to explore Dorchester. We attended a wedding and the room used was perfect for this.
Superb Breakfast that outshone many hotels. Home cooked with good ingredients that are not cheap. Bacon and sausages where lovely. Well looked after over the breakfast period. Good coffee to which is important to us.
Upgraded to family suite was a bonus.
Very nice venison burger at the restaurant.
Convenient location close to Dorchester and a short drive to Dorset coast and walks.
