Calf's Head Hotel, hotel in Clitheroe

Located in Clitheroe, 12 miles from King George's Hall, Calf's Head Hotel has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. This 4-star hotel offers free WiFi.

We needed to check-in as early as possible so we could attend a wedding. I'd emailed beforehand and the staff had gone out of their way to turn around our room so we could have access when we arrived. It was a large, well appointed room with an ensuite incorporating both a jacuzzi bath and an excellent powerful shower. It was clean and tidy, if a little care-worn, but the bed was exceptionally comfortable, with high thread count bedding and fluffy towels and they get my vote because a teapot was provided. ☺️

James the GM went out of his way to help us get to a wedding in time. Our taxi didn’t arrive so James did not hesitate to take us there which was so decent of him. We arrived 1 minute before the bride walked down the aisle!!

The best part would have to be the view! I love a good view and the pictures on the website don’t do it’s justice, when you get there and you see it for yourself it really does blow you away (if you have an eye for views like me anyway!)

Clitheroe is a town full of interest to all those who wish to learn more about the industrial and social history of Lancashire valley mill towns. There are many old family businesses and shops, cafes and, of course, the fabulous Holmes Mill and its Bowland Bar and Brewery. A charming, thriving and most engaging town - with a castle!

Clitheroe is a lovely town with local shops, pubs and restaurants. The castle and its grounds are worth the climb up the hill. The town is a good base for exploring further afield. For those with walking difficulties, you should be aware that Clitheroe is on a hill and the streets can be steep. For those liking wine, there is an excellent wine shop D. Byrne & Co to explore.

It's a beautiful building in a beautiful setting. The staff are welcoming and friendly and though its little out of the nearest town its only a short journey to Clitheroe. The breakfast was lovely, a buffet which included cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt, full cooked, and other bits and pieces. Everywhere was clean, the bedroom and en suite plus the communal areas and dining room. The price was fantastic, definite value for money. There's very little to add! I would definitely book here again

Before arrival the host sent us over all the information we needed for checkin along with some parking tips which was very helpful on arrival to the town. The cottage was stunning and had a lovely home away from home feel with kitchen facilities (fresh bread, milk and eggs available for us). The location of the property was perfect for us, lots of local shops nearby as well as great parking facilities. We really enjoyed our stay and would book again in the future.

Great location, a quiet residential road very close to the centre of Clitheroe, with easy parking. The house is larger than it looks and was comfortable and cosy with everything we needed. We were in Clitheroe for a wedding and the house was an ideal base. The host, Olivia, was prompt in her responses, particularly when there was a minor issue with the heating and we were able to quickly resolve it.

Everything about our stay was excellent. We particularly enjoyed sitting by the river and in the courtyard for drinks. The evening meal was really good with a wide range of choice, substantial portions and great service. Our room was spacious, well equipped and very clean. The breakfast was excellent. Also the hotel was maintaining adherence to Covid-19 precautions.

The cottage was warm, welcoming and perfect for two couples. Very comfortable and well appointed. The owner's communication was great, explained where to park and how to enter the property. Great position, near to the town centre, and good places to eat, we would recommend Tom's Table and the Brewery, fab food and atmosphere.
