A super-comfortable - and elegant, 'country' boutique hotel that exudes quality at every turn.
Warm, thoughtfully appointed and spacious rooms, with extremely comfortable bed with lovely linen, nice small touches in the room such as 'treats tray' and nice toiletries etc...
Staff friendly and professional, lovely seasonal decorations and a welcoming feel to the place overall.
The Wentbridge is quite well known in the area as a place to go for a special meal or afternoon tea and I have to say the breakfast was beautifully done (cooked fresh to order) and the dining room itself stylish without standing on ceremony.
If you're after lots of facilities, this place won't be 1st choice - BUT if you seek a wonderfully comfortable place to rest your head for the night then this is your spot if you're heading through Yorkshire up the A1.

I stayed just for one night.
I stayed just for one night. It was raining and was very windy, so I didn't get to visit any of the outdoor places I wanted to, but the Carlton Lanes shopping centre was nice to visit and unlike in Leeds which is so busy there were no queues in December for Christmas shopping in the shops I wanted to buy from. Castleford has regular bus services to Leeds, at a fair price and it is also connected by train. I would go again in better weather and visit Pontefract castle and Queen's Park.

I stay in Castleford at the Wheldale Hotel in order to visit with my family in Barwick in Elmet and cannot comment on Castleford attractions or facilities. It would seem to be well served with shops and petrol stations but I do not make use of the amenities in real terms.

The other room had a leather three seater sofa, a leather two seater sofa, a large leather chair, Large wooden dining table and 4 chairs and a large screen TV with multi channels. The shower room was beautiful and spotless excellent. I was offered use of the kitchen and fridge. Friendly hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. I would definitely stay there again on my next trip to that area.

En suite large and had a nice shower with everything in needed for a budget hotel including Sky TV and a decent Wi-Fi. Mark and Donna were excellent hosts going the extra mile for me with a great explanation of the property, room and dining times. The food was freshly made and the complimentary continental breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and a good choice. There’s good walking just up the road from the hotel.

We were visiting family near by so the location was great, however the house is close to Escape where there was lots of activities for kids and grown up kids. We went back again for another go on the VR games and go karting. Lots of lovely villages and walks near by. We ran out of time but will definitely rebook. Loved the Yorkshire artwork.
