I was only there for a quick one-night stop. The weather was so bad in the evening that I did not venture far, but I found a decent fish-and-chip shop.
Got up early in the morning and went for a walk. I did like the city centre area, and especially the historic area.

The city centre is ok, it does have some lovely old pubs away from the two Wetherspoons, however you have to go looking for them down some of the side street (try around the church in the city centre and behind the shops for a few). Some nice restaurants apparently but we didn't try them. Outside of the centre nice parks.

I absolutely love Carlisle, I can’t get enough of it.
I absolutely love Carlisle, I can’t get enough of it. This is my go to place when I want to relax, as I have a long standing condition and need to just have some nice space. Crown & Mitre is for us all the way.

The hotel is within walking distance of where my business in...
The hotel is within walking distance of where my business in Carlisle was taking place. The check in was very smooth and conducted by a friendly and helpful member of staff. Another big bonus was free parking throughout the stay. The rooms are quite basic but exceptionally clean. One minor comment could be that the tv was quite small which is unusual these days.
Very helpful staff and nice hotel. Bed very comfy and hotel is in a nice location. The breakfast is very good with all you need to eat and drink in the morning. Great chef and very helpful. I would highly recommend this place to all looking to stay in Carlisle for the night. I would definitely return to this hotel to all, not bad value for money considering the time of year. All good very happy. 👍
The hotel is very close to the M6, A69 junction near Carlisle and is perfect for a stop over. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed on our way up for a holiday in Scotland and liked the hotel so much we did the same on our way back. Highly recommended.
The location of Abbey Court was very convenient for the city centre and places to eat. Kelly the owner was very friendly when we arrived and cooked us a lovely breakfast. There is car parking at the side and behind the guest house. Would definitely stay again if in Carlisle.
The hotel's location is excellent for a stay in Carlisle, and for travel by bus or train thereafter to areas further afield. The hotel is clean throughout the public areas as was the bedroom. All staff we met were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was very good.
The location was convenient in terms of walking to the bus and train stations. The hotel is dated, but has retained some of the characteristics of the era when it was prime. the room was clean and comfortable and the meal in the dining room was quite satisfactory.
The hotel has a nice lounge and seating area. Car Park is spacious. Staff are helpful and very pleasant. Hotel is within walking distance of sights and must-do's of Carlisle. Good breakfast. Clean towels/bedlinen. Refreshments in the room.
Really friendly and value for money hotel. Ideal for exploring Carlisle and surrounding area. While it does lots of weddings at weekend it’s an ideal place for a short break or an overnight stop on way to Scotland. Would happily stay again.
Highly recommend the Cumbria Park Hotel. Location was very close to the city centre where we could explore Carlisle Castle and museums. The staff where fantastic especially Jean who looked after us at breakfast time!
The location was excellent in the middle of Carlisle city centre, near the restaurants and shops. The car park was safe and secure. The staff were lovely and friendly. The hotel was clean.
Hotel is in a small village but only a short drive from Carlisle, excellent value for the night if you don't mind staying out of the town and driving. Very friendly and helpful hotel owner.
Staff were super, facilities exceptional and both food and drink very good. Have been searching for a quality Hotel close to Carlisle for a while, pleased to say we have found somewhere.
Lovely new hotel, very stylish with attentive, pleasant staff. Beautiful room with 2 windows looking out onto rolling fields. The bathroom was a joy and the bed was very comfortable
The hotel has a great location in the centre of the city and a short walk from the train station, bars and restaurants. Our room was very generous in size.
