Basingstoke Central Apartments, hotel in Basingstoke

Basingstoke Central Apartments enjoys a location in Basingstoke, 14 miles from Highclere Castle and 14 miles from Jane Austen's House Museum.

This experience at this property is making Booking.com look really bad to me and others around me and probably all of you if you can see the pictures I took of this place! I’ll start, We saw the pictures online and thought to ourselves this looks good, let’s book it 3 weeks in advance like normal and as we got to the apartment smelled MOLDY and like dirty socks yuck! My mother and aunt were going to stay there and the aunt is in stage 4 cancer and as the walked in the noticed the couch was dirty with stains and buggers on it the kitchen was filthy and old, the table and chairs to dine were falling apart and the fake leather was falling off the chairs, back to the couch the seat covers were not even on them, they were wrapped around with old blankets to substitute the dirty and filthy couch and once they went around to the rooms that’s where we found were the STANK and HORRIBLE smell was coming from, both the bathrooms in this property were moldy, all the floors and walls were full of mold and and was literally falling apart from how bad the mold was eating the restrooms. This is the worst living conditions I have ever experienced and I have never had a problem with any of my stays around the world. They were there for 10 minutes took pictures and left immediately and returned the keys to its place! Please do not book from these people! I am having the worst experience with them, our booking is from the 17th of October 2023 - 8th of November 2023 which was 22 days and paid them $2,000 US dollars and were in this property for only 10 minutes as this was an unhealthy and dangerous place to stay! Up to this moment I am fighting to get back my money that rightfully belongs to me and out another $3,000 US since I had to find a proper place for them to stay in the area on a last minute situation. Please be careful who you book with, this has been a headache for me and my family. Some people are always out to get you and care about no one.

The room was quiet, comfortable and had everything needed. There were good facilities at the hotel - dining room, seating area, bar, good parking and was easily accessible. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated within easy reach of the M3 and also Basingstoke. And I feel it was reasonably priced

Small town that has a really good shopping centre with a wide choice of the normal and more unusual shops. There are plenty of places to eat, cinema complex, theatre and a good selection of places to park.

A great mixture of old and new: new shopping mall cleverly melded into "old town". Very well looked after and litter-free. Lots of indoor activities especially for children and young families. Excellent range of properties for folk wanting to settle there (with good access to London). Lots of road works but probably a passing phase.

We didn’t really explore locally, but rather used it as a base to explore the whole area. It’s just a touch over an hours drive to the south coast, to Bath and to London. We visited Estates with some of the best art collections outside of London, the National Auto Museum, Wisley Garden, rode bikes in the New Forest, played disc golf, visited the Safari Park and much more. There’s a good pub 10 minutes walk away and a huge grocery store about 10 minutes drive away. Perfect!

Basingstoke was a surprise for me...I hadn't expected it to be so full of art & culture. Every available space it seemed to me had been brought to life with a variety of paintings ; poetry ; lighting etc The streets were clean ...plenty of litter bins...hardly any graffiti...people seem to take a pride in their town, which was great to see. I rejoiced to see a market place being used and numerous independent shops as well as a vibrant shopping centre. There are also a number of well maintained green spaces - Eastrop and Glebe Gardens fir example. I didn't have occasion to use the bus service but did use the railway station and went to Salisbury , Whitchurch and Romsey. The Ring Rd is a bit of a challenge but at least the roundabouts are named , which is useful! There is easy access to the M3. I went self catering but found a really nice coffee shop on the way to the station- I think it is called Willow Tea Room ...it is near the statue of the Bluecoat school boy! It is multi cultural so you are spoilt for choice re eating out. The shopping centre is bright, clean and vibrant.

Like many of the large hotel chains this one looks tired and the interior is in need of a revamp. That said it doesn’t help where ‘guests’ leave bottles and glasses on the floor as potential trip hazards in the corridors. The restaurant was closed on Saturday evening due to staff shortage, there is no central heating in the hotel and the air con system is inadequate for heating. The AA recruitment staff in the lounge were not initially happy with us being in there but we got along. The hotel was good for our meeting in the town centre.

The location was well situated near the motorway but not so close that noise pollution invaded the room and created difficulty sleeping or any other discomfort. Only a short walk to Basingstoke town centre for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also to have a look around the town and shopping centre. The room was larger than expected, very modern, nicely decorated and clean. The bar area on the ground floor was well decorated, clean, the staff were really nice and helpful and the whole hotel had a really nice atmosphere.

After having to leave The Hampshire Court hotel due to it's dangerous and filthy condition. I had to find a hotel at very short notice. Audleys Wood had availability at a higher price than I had paid at the pig pen, but if I had known how beautiful this hotel was and how fantastic the staff where I would be more than happy to have booked there first. My deepest thanks go to all the staff, from the night Porter to the hotel Manager that saved our weekend away.

The staff went out of their way to get my room ready early after hearing I'd just left hospital. All the staff I interacted with were very professional, cheerful and helpful. The food in the bar was excellent and well-priced. Having stayed in a few other hotels in Basingstoke, I believe the rating on booking.com does not reflect the very positive experience I had and is too low. I will be staying there again.

The room was really nice and seemed to have been recently decorated or refurbished. It was good to have a microwave, toaster and fridge, as these are not provided in many budget hotels. The welcome tray was very nice too, and there were plenty og coffee sachets for us. Having fresh milk was good too, as it is much nicer than the small cartons of long life milk provided in budget hotels.

Absolutely blissful stay though it's not in Basingstoke, it's in Dummer and connectivity through bus/public transport is not great so a good option only if one has a car. Martin & his wife were perfectly welcoming, sweet and helpful! Room was in a great condition and washroom was super clean. Lovely guest house situated in the countryside, and great views! 👍🏼
