Fabulous chefs produced 7 course taster evening meal and wonderful again chef prepared breakfast, amazing flavours and absolutely coordinated and balanced tasty servings over a large number of locally sourced products. Service was friendly and knowledgeable and professional throughout our stay. We felt everything was made to happen very specially just for us, a wonderful experience and a culinary delight.
Set in 3 acres of beautiful grounds, Cedars Inn features a conservatory restaurant and free parking. The inn is situated just outside Barnstable, a 20-minute drive from Exmoor National Park.

The town is easy to get around and has plenty of places to eat. Sadly the River Taw looks very polluted with brown foam floating down it, which gives the town a rather dilapidated feel.
Otherwise a pleasant [place to stay

Barnstaple is a great base for touring north Devon.
Barnstaple is a great base for touring north Devon. There are good link roads that take you through to north Cornwall and the whole of north Devon. Don’t like driving the bus service is excellent although when it’s busy there are slight delays just allow yourselves the time for this. Barnstaple is a lovely town with lots a shops and some are Independant. We are looking to move to the area to be nearer our daughter

This is a nice little west country town on the estuary of the Taw river, with easy access (by car) to surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe bay, and to Exmoor for hiking.
It's easy to get around the town on foot. Bike rental is available for going farther afield.
There are some excellent restaurants, notably Tiffins (Indian).
There is an amusing museum with local information and artifacts .

Although not itself overly picturesque, it has excellent bus services to many places that are - Westward Ho, Ilfracombe, Bideford, Lynmouth and even Minehead! More should be made of these in publicity, don't assume everyone has a car.

I lead other cyclists on the Devon Coast to Coast cycle Trail , & Barnstaple is near the start or finish depending on whether you are going south or north. I normally go to the Hunters Lodge just south of Barnstaple they are excellent but they were full at the time.

Barnstaple is a charming town with a good range of architecture but particularly after dark the town is full of beggars, drunks, drug addicts giving the town a very unsafe and grubby feel. The Police and Council appear to have given up on improving the social environment and this probably impacts on the town’s tourist industry.
Contemporary and clean the room had a great view of Rock Park. Location is ideal for a walk into town. We had visited and stayed at the hotel 3 years ago and were very happy and now it had been updated so was even better. Barnstaple shops were largely unaffected from closure which is a problem in our area. Dining experience was wonderful and staff were attentive and cheerful.
It was a breath of fresh air from the national hotel chains I stay at, all the facilities that you need were there at half the price, so why pay more. The reason why I found your hotel was because the hotel I was going to stay at rang me at the last moment to say they had overbooked my room, I will not be staying with them again as your hotel has everything I need.
Clean and well-appointed. Tastefully modernised maintaining the cosy cottage appeal. Bed and living room sofa very comfortable. Nice to have a back patio. Good location for Barnstaple and exploring the area. I was delighted how convenient for non-car users like us it was with the local, regular bus service outside the door. Loved our stay!
When we come to Barnstaple we normally stay at the Premier Inn but find it so expensive but the cedars is as just as good if not better in my opinion the room we had was really comfortable nice and spacious and a really nice bathroom will definitely be staying again.
Perfect base to visit north Devon!!,
Off the beaten track, Ideal for a couple, lovely Bedroom ( comfy)
All facilities are there to make your stay enjoyable.
Friendly family, lovely Dogs, amazing lake.
Very happy with this holiday 😊
Recommended location to stay!!!
This was our first time at the Imperial Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. It was very well furnished, friendly staff, good bar and restaurant. We upgraded for the third night and had a great room at the front of the hotel. We will be returning.
The views overlooking the estuary of the Taw and the sunsets were a delight. Easy access to shopping in Barnstaple was useful. Instructions on how to gain the keys good. The apartment was comfortable and well equipped. We had great short break.
The hotel cancelled our booking due to having to close the hotel due to an issue with the electrical systems. We were put up in their sister hotel the Fotsque in the town centre. I would be happy to review that hotel
No 22 was a wonderful place to stay. Jane was so friendly and welcoming. The room and en-suite were absolutely beautiful! So much more boutique hotel than B & B. A totally pampering experience.
Really lovely place to stay...... Comfortable bed, clean facilities, friendly owners and great breakfast.
I've stayed in dozens of hotels over the years and this one is up there with the best.
Beautiful location. Sent my daughter here for her birthday and she was so pleased with everything including the Partridge on the menu that she'd never tried before. Great staff, and service.
Cute and comfortable accomodation in Barnstaple. Simonne and Kim were very personable and accomodating hosts. Great breakfast and welcome hot tub after trekking.
Comfortable room, with King sized bed, good shower and excellent breakfast. WiFi was exceptionally fast. Convenient location for Barnstable / Bideford area.
