Eidfjord is a very practical location since from there is access to many activities and visits that I would recommend such as Vøringsfossen, Kjeåsen, Norsk Natursenter - Hardanger and a lot of sensational excursions. Apart from that you have Hardangerfjord, the Ulvik/Voss area, Hardangervidda just a few kilometers away by car.
And the town is small, quiet and charming.

Eidfjors is an idyllic place with many things to do or enjoy. As main attractions you have the waterfall of Vøringsfossen, the norwegian nature center museum and the farms and views of Kjeåsen. Apart from that, other spectacular waterfalls and fantastic hikes. It is also a good place to relax and do nothing.

There is some great hiking in the area.
There is some great hiking in the area. We took the trail to the foot of Voringsfossen waterfall, which gave a different perspective from the viewpoints along the road. The hike to Kjeasen mountain farm is a lot of fun, with a few scrambles on the way up. This is quite steep and slippy in places so best done on a dry day. The views from the top are stunning.
We also did a day trip to Bergen from Eidfjord, if you have a car it is doable to go there and back in a day.
Eidfjord itself is very small and easy to get around. We mainly ate in our hotel (Eidfjord Fjell and Fjord Hotel) which was very nice to go for dinner.
The hotel is nice and very easy to access if traveling by boat or ferry.
The breakfast had an interesting variety of food, including vegetables, fruit, and a smoothie. I would have just added a few more cake options for those who prefer a sweet breakfast.
We enjoyed a lot the buffet dinner at an additional but reasonable price, which included a variety of starters, main options, and desserts!
We came back in Eidfjord just to stay in this amazing place. A cozy, warm, picturesque home next to the Fjords, run by the friendliest couple. They always hear their customers/ that they treat as friends and improve their facilities. They always welcome us with big smiles, suggestions, lots of quality toys, flowers and chocolates. Always a pleasure staying here. Amazing experience
An over 100 year old history — creaky hallway floor boards and ageing carpet part of the charm to me, and something I appreciate further after learning about the hotel carried down generations.
The rooms most importantly are more restored, very clean and comfortable and buffet breakfast is good — didn’t have the chance to try the restaurant.
Location is stunning. Bottom of a Valley with great road access, only 10 mins drive from Eidfjord. Right on the lake, good WiFi coverage, lovely playpark for kids. Facilities are good, Laundry room, kitchen with cooking equipment and an oven. Beds are comfy and the heaters do a great job. Howard was very friendly and welcoming too.
Friendly, helpful staff – felt more like a family than a hotel. Nice breakfast with freshly cooked omelettes. Comfortable, spacious, modern hotel room. Only 9 rooms on the property; all on the ground floor. Comfortable lounge area with free tea. The owners run an adventure travel company (kayaking, biking, etc.) as well.
The location of the house is magnificent between the mountains. The house is very comfortable and clean, we had everything we needed. Gina is very, very kind and helpful.
Everything was perfect, it was one of our best stay ever! I really hope to visit the lovely house and Øvre Eidfjord again!
We enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We only ate breakfast at the hotel which was good. The view was very nice. Our room was nice for the area. They had a nice common sitting area also with beautiful view.
Great location, very close to the Hardangerfjord and the Voringfossen waterfall. The facilities were very clean and the room was very cozy, and the staff was attentive too. Nice breakfast to start the day.
Location was really nice. The hotel is really old and has an amazing vibe. There is a super beautiful waterfall right outside. Overall nice place :) The staff was very welcoming and friendly
