A beautiful car-free village in the Swiss Alps, Zermatt is world-famous for its skiing and mountaineering qualities. Standing in the shadow of the impressive Matterhorn, this is a true Alpine paradise, popular with both celebrities and citizens of all nationalities.
Surrounded by stunning mountains and plenty of hiking trails, Zermatt offers more than just pretty views. The nearby Sunnegga Paradise ski area needs to be accessed by 3 successive means of transport: a funicular railway, a gondola and a cable car, making it a great ride with an even better finish! And in Zermatt, there is still even more!
This lovely village is a great base for hiking on the nearby Breithorn, the easiest trek of the entire Alps, rewarding the effort with a great panorama of the snow-covered mountain tops and charming villages below.
Try mountain biking in the Zermatt area and after a very active day relax in one of the cozy restaurants and bars with an open fire and comfortable armchairs. Or just have a stroll down the main street and enjoy the view of the wooden chalets and do some window shopping.

Loved this city so much!! It is a no car city, so be prepared to walk a lot! Food is expensive, so be prepared. Absolutely loved the city for walking around and enjoying the scenery of the Alps. The skiing is unmatched !

I have skied in seven different countries and at some of the most famous ski resorts in the world. Zermatt is in a class by itself for the scenic experience. If you love mountains, you need to go there once in your life. You will be blown away.

Zermatt is an excellent ski resort and has a lot of accommodation options. The best way to travel to the resort from other parts of Switzerland is by train. The skiing was wonderful. It was a little expensive especially as the exchange rate between the (weak) AUD and CHF is not good.

Zermatt is a pretty little ski/resort town.
Zermatt is a pretty little ski/resort town. It is high-end - shopping and dining. Lift tickets, though, are about half the price of similar large resort like Vail or Aspen. Facilities and lifts are very good. If you're looking for well groomed, cruiser slopes, I would say that this not your place. However, there are some interesting things for non-skiers: rent a sled or a dog team, there are trains to tops of some of the mountains with nice restaurants on top. It would also be an excellent location for summer travel.

We previously stayed in Zermatt and therefore knew the village as being very good. Lovely vibrant main street with lots of eating venues. Our recent visit was only for one night to board the Glacier Express. Hotels provide transfers to all parts of the town eg. Railway station and ski bahnhof. Ultimately, an exciting, vibrant town.

Gorgeous clean city. Most everything in walking distance.
Gorgeous clean city. Most everything in walking distance. Taxi prices were high. And they drive a lil too hectic for a careless city.. Train prices high and retail high. I dont recommend the alcohol fondue. I wish i would have ordered the non alcohol....we went in late February and it seemed perfect weather. Clean water and air!!! A beautiful ski resort city definitely recommend...
I wished we stayed longer here as the room was the largest and most comfortable for our family of 4 amongst the different hotels we stayed at during our holiday in Switzerland. The 2 bedrooms are separated from the living and dining area, so there is more privacy.
It is a 5 min walk away from the Zermatt train station. We took the opportunity to walk through the town to get to the base station to travel up to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The walk took no more than 20 mins. On the way back, we hopped into a bus.
probably best hotel I've stayed in. Very large for a single room and large comfy bed. Balcony with view of Matterhorn. Kettle & fridge! Large indoor swimming pool and I was the only one in most of the time. Great breakfast buffet that varied daily a bit, with good selection of cheese and even smoked samon, with what seedmed like home made horseradish sauce. A house maid also came round every evening to make sure everything was okaywith the room! Only a short walk to both of the main ski lifts.
The owners could not have been more helpful in making our stay in Zermatt more perfect! It was like staying with family! They suggested places to hike, places to eat dinner and stored our luggage until we left. We would have loved to stay longer! It was close to the train station, very clean, beautiful, cozy and comfortable, the flowers outside were gorgeous, and the breakfast was amazing. Best croissants on our entire trip! Highly recommend without hesitation!
The hotel is absolutely beautiful with an amazing view of the Matterhorn and also in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was so nice and comfortable, you even get a new delicious little treat each day which is a nice touch. The smell, the spa/pool, breakfast, dinners, ambiance and pet friendly made this hotel a must for our family. We will continue to make this hotel a yearly visit for our family trip to zermatt.
This hotel had the best customer service I have ever experienced in Switzerland. Not only were the staff super friendly and helpful, but they always offered support before it was asked. Beautiful views and a stunning outdoor jacuzzi next to a waterfall. Exceptional breakfast for a small, boutique hotel with great service. They upgraded my room giving me excellent views of the Matterhorn. I enjoyed my stay very much and would totally recommend.
rooms are clean and tidy, additional kitchen equipment available on request. staff is friendly and helpful. This mini-hotel is a typical accommodation you would find in Zermatt (except for ultra luxury hotels / chalets). Rooms are veeeery small but sufficient for a night stay after full day of skiing (and some apres-ski). Internet connection allowed an good quality conf-call when work duties necessitated..
The friendly welcome, the alert staff, the joyful staff, the services provided, the room and the delicious breakfast. THIS hotel excels!! All our expectations have been exceeded to the best of service. This stay in Allalin Zermatt was without doubt memorable. Thank you so much to the team and we wish you a happy summer
incredible value for money in zermatt. breakfast was delicious and had many options. really nice hotel to have access to the lobby / breakfast / ski room yet to be in a separate wing. easy bus to the gondola but it’s not as close as some other properties. felt like the best deal in zermatt. very friendly staff.
UNBELIEABLE VIEWS! Had a perfect view of the Matterhorn from my room and also within 3 minute walk of the main lift. Beautiful rooms with a ton of space and balcony. For the price we paid I don't know how other hotels compete. This hotel was just as good as any 5 star hotel on Zermatt for half the price!
This is arguably the most stylish, Lynchian hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Atmospheric, super-cool, dreamy, and very well-appointed and comfortable. The staff was also incredibly friendly and accommodating. And it was set off the main drag and very quiet. The best hotel in Zermatt. I can’t wait to return.
This hotel exceeded our expectations like no other before. The staff was amazing, the rooms cozy, warm and quiet and the location was probably the best in all of Zermatt, as it was right next to everything, but still quiet and the ski room led exactly to the ski bus station which is exactly in front.
Hotel s always superior for breakfast. Restaurant appears permanently closed. Staffing or profit problem after Covid? Convenience to lift is the best. Any closer you would step in lift at front door of hotel. I 75. Ski 70 days a year. This hotel is great
Everything was perfect.
Rooms were spotless. The little cakes were delicious.
Toiletries smelt divine.
The pools were great especially the infinity pool outside.
This is the best hotel in Zermatt.
I will be back for my fourth visit hopefully next year.
Wonderful hotel, the best of our trip to Switzerland, satisfactory room size, super complete structure, comfortable, with amenities, heating system, Transfer to the station, sauna, coffee with a lot of options and receptive staff. I highly recommend it!
The location of the hotel was great, easy walk distance from the train, ski resort and most of the shops in Zermatt. Breakfast was good and they offered a tea time with free tea/coffee and pastries.
The spa facilities are the best I have ever seen in a hotel. Exceptional. The hotel was beautifully decorated and of a very high standard. Rooms were large for Switzerland. Location was fantastic.
One of the best if not the best hotel I stayed in Switzerland. Room was big and spacious and filled with all the amenities you need. Balcony view was perfect! 10/10 highly recommended!
