Its mesmerizing and must visit place, especially during snowing time. Entire Zermatt town covered with snow is a must see. Walking around the old cobble stoned streets and the trip to Gornergrat in snowing time is a thrilling experience.

We stopped in Zermatt as a way station so that we coud take the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz, after visting Geneva for a week. The Glacier Express is a fantastic, slow train ride across the country with amazing views of the Alps and so much more. While in Zermatt, we went up to Glacier Paradise (over 13,000 feet high) so get a close up view of the Matterhorn and Alps - simply stunning. The ice cave there is pretty cool, too, all puns intended.
We're not skiers and Zermatt is obviously a world-class ski resort, but there's plenty to do for non-skiers, great restaurants, and of course, the amazing scenery.
It's really worth a visit as well as a ride on the Express to see the countryside. (If you're a couple, go first class and get the single seats facing each other with a table in between. Skip the meal though - it was lousy and served way too early because they have so many to serve - in our case, chicken tetrazzini at 11a.m. Not ideal. Just bring some good food on with you, and order cappuccinos or drinks on board if you want - there's service at the seats.)
(The attached photos are from Glacier Paradise and it's ice cave.)

Lively touristy town.
Lively touristy town. Advertised as being free of cars (neccessary because of the narrow streets) In practice, so full of electric taxis and delivery vehicles that one feels no benefit. As in other winter resorts, one's enjoyment is very dependent on the weather. We were very disappointed by the poor signage for winter/in-between-season walking paths

We chose Zermatt for a family ski vacation in late season and chose a chalet close to the Matterhorn Express station. We enjoyed the skiing, and on mountain dining at Chez Vrony, and Gitz-Gädi Restaurant. To get around Zermatt we utilized taxi, busses and walking. Since there are no cars it is exceptionally pedestrian friendly. Do note that free bus system closes at 7:30pm so if you stay out late you will need to walk for pay for expensive taxi. Since our chalet we had a kitchen and chose to shop at the market and prepare many of our meals which is cheaper than eating out.

I have skied in seven different countries and at some of the most famous ski resorts in the world. Zermatt is in a class by itself for the scenic experience. If you love mountains, you need to go there once in your life. You will be blown away.
This hotel is amazing! Our family of five found the suite to be very spacious with a cozy vibe. It’s a quick walk to everything in town, including shopping, restaurants, and the ski lifts, and the amenities are really nice, with a pool, hot tub, and sauna. Free breakfasts are delivered to the suite, which is a luxury. We cannot say enough good things about the staff either. Everyone was very kind and went over and above to make our stay amazing. We definitely recommend it!
Clean and spacious house, perfect location, wonderful view, and the best host I’ve ever met. Peter was very helpful when we needed something.
We were in Zermatt for skiing. 6 minute walk to Sunnengga, 10 minute walk to Gornergrat, and 2 minute bus ride to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise trains. Kitchen is well equipped and Migros and Coop are closed by. Modest yet highly effective Sauna and steam room were worth to mention. Good for the muscles after a ski day.
The room had a great view which allowed us to see the Matterhorn as well as nearby mountains. The check-in staff ( Karen)
was responsible for upgrading our room so that we had such visibility from our balcony. Karen also accommodated us by keeping our luggage since we arrived early.
We travelled to 5 cities in Switzerland as a party of 4. We all agreed that our stay in Zermatt at Hotel Arcxa Soilebad & Spa was our favorite!
Hotel Bahnhof offers a great central location across from two train stations (SBB and Gornergrat) as well as close to an enclosed mall with a supermarket featuring reasonable take-away items in pricey Switzerland. The staff was friendly, the sleeping pod was comfortable, facilities were clean and the entire place had a great mountain charm that I really liked I would definitely stay there again when returning to Zermatt.
A beautiful boutique hotel close to the center of Zermatt, yet on the other side of the river avoiding much of the congestion of being in the center itself (its just a short walk). The room was spacious and well appointed, and the breakfast sumptuous. The hotel has a small garden with patio dining, weather permitting. The staff is warm and eager to help in anyway. Highly recommend this hotel.
One of our best stays in Switzerland! Hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. We were traveling with our dog and the hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay a great experience and accommodate our doggy .
Rooms are spacious with a balcony. The property has great fondue and tapas restaurants and lounge area and beautiful outdoor jacuzzi.
Would highly recommend this hotel!
We loved Hotel Daniela! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was outstanding! The Hotel is located centrally, and we were able to walk to most destinations. The ski lockers were very convenient for our group, as was the transportation provided to the train station. I highly recommend this property if you want a Boutique Hotel feel in Zermatt.
One of the best hotels in our 6 weeks of travel. On arrival you feel like you have been welcomed into the family. Great architectural design and furnishings. Close to great restaurants and ability to walk to all attractions. Slightly off the main street which was great as it was a bit quieter. Lovely bar for evening drinks. Would certainly stay here again.
First of all the staff. The owner couple treated us like family. Even went out of their way to assist us whenever we needed it, despite not asking for it. Second, the location is perfect. It is right in the middle of the happening Zermatt town. You walk out of the hotel, walk a few steps down and there you are in the midst of restaurants and shopping area.
The best feature of the hotel is the Matterhorn view, truly breath-taking on a clear day, the hotel is located in an excellent elevated position. The Spa facilities are incredible (5 star hotel quality). The breakfast was superb too with great range of choice. Also great to have a little surprise/drink if you don't have your room cleaned daily.
I was lucky to secure a booking with nomad on my trip to Zermatt as most of the other properties were sold out or didn’t get good reviews .the standards of the hotel /facilities / restaurants / were one of the best i have ever stayed in !!Nothing is wrong or needs to be bettered or changed .I’d give it a 10
This hotel was perfect through and through. Hands down the best hotel-experience in Zermatt in the past 7 years. Worth staying there just for the breakfast, honestly. The room was spacious, beautiful view from the balcony, bed was comfy, everyone working there were super nice.
This hotel was top notch in every regard. The staff and the service was very good. The decor and layout was beautiful. You cannot find a better location in Zermatt. My wife and I both agreed that this was one of the nicest (if not the best) hotel we have ever stayed.
Everything!
The best trip I had to Switzerland
Combination of both best stay and best views. I love this place.
The hotel exceeded my expectations in every way made great by the young team who left no chance to make our stay more comfortable.
Best Western Boutique Hotel staff and facility were fantastic. Dining, including the breakfast was varied and plentiful. Room cleanliness and feint desk staff were professional and courteous.
The best Hotel in Europe for real !!
All the staff are super nice, friendly, and helpful. Would visit Zermatt again for this Hotel.
