We stayed in the chalet attached to Hotel Stechelberg, so big and comfortable.
Photographs do not do it justice, such a beautiful place. Snow capped mountain all year round, surrounded by blue skies, mountains, green fields and wild flowers.
Witnessed some of the farming activity in an UNESCO region - farmer moving his cows to higher grounds, well worth seeing. Hay making, cutting the meadows, baling, wrapping bales etc.
We did one of the walks around the bottom of the mountain and went to Trummelbach-Falle. Rivers so clean, you can see the pebbles and stones. Really caters for all age groups. Public transport punctual.
The room is well located at the top of the valley and the second/third floors have a balcony so they have a wonderful view of the waterfalls and the landscape. The breakfast was very good with wide variety served in the hotel - comfortable seating and lovely friendly caring staff to serve ands assist with advice about the local area.
Stunning location overall - at the top of the valley - a short walk in any direction has great views. A long walk and you are exploring new vistas and seeing new parts of the valley.
This place was a gem, away from the touristy side of lauterbrunnen it was right at the end of stechelberg and we had a view of the green hills and water falls around.
The place was beautifully quiet and very old school like it has a basement kitchen and a dining room and even a lift for food.
The place was very antiquey and had a very nice aura about it.
We could also check in at anytime which was a bonus!
Highly recommend staying here for some peace and quiet!
Family room with a balcony accessible from the hall was an excellent and unexpected benefit - overseeing the mountains and the waterfalls over the green trees - amazing with a glass of wine. All was excellent, staff friendly, breakfast, location, parking, etc. Lauterbrunnen can get crowded, at the end of the valley (here) is much better and a great place to start a hike further up pr easy walk down the valley. For families with kids - it's calm and peaceful.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Stunning scenery. The house very simple and that was just perfect for us. Lauterbrunnen was very bustling with tourists but out by Stechelberg where the Alpenhof mountain house is situated there is just mountains, and quiet, only sound the nearby waterfall .. simply idyllic. The hostess Diane is very friendly and helped us a lot, everything is very informal and easy going
This place is for people who don't like to see other people :-). The chalet is located at the end of the road in Stechelberg, so you don't have much traffic. The hotel restaurant is about 50m from the chalet. The chalet itself has a terrace with unbeatable panoramic view of the mountains including Breithorn. This is an ideal place for relaxation or hiking or both. Highly recommended!
The property is located in a beautiful mind blowing location. We could see waterfalls from our balcony. The kitchen is well maintained and sufficed all our needs. The property is 5 mins walk from Stechelberg Post bus stop. The owners very helpful with any information we needed regarding our travel plans.
Beautiful hotel in an old l renovated building close to the mountains. Very clean and comfortable, with big kitchen and comfy living room. The owners are super kind and friendly. Mountain trails start just near the house. Definitely recommend!
Don't forget 1 Fr coins for the shower! :)
Location is close to the bus stop. It has almost everything you need to self cater. It was comfortable and warm. It had a great selection of TV channels. Including most of the UK mainstream channels.its lovely and quiet even though its is on the road to Stechelberg.
Diane helped guide us to where we could eat and exchange money. She was knowledgeable about the buses into Lauterbrunnen and that was very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful as it was in most of the other B&Bs we stayed in on our j2 week hiking the JungFrau Train.
The hotel is perhaps the closest one to Schilthorn when parking is needed. Simple rooms but with multiple trails next door. A decent restaurant next door with outside seating. Lift to Schilthorn about 10 min by foot.
It’s beautifully set in the back of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. The historic hotel has high ceilings and beautiful views. Dianne warmly welcomed me, and showed me around the impeccably clean hotel.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. The facility is basic but clean, comfortable and acceptable. What can you ask more for a simple mountain hotel as the base for your mountain activity?
The hotel and restaurant staff do not welcome other cultures, there is no lighting in the corridors of the house at night after 10 pm, the residents of the area do not welcome Muslims.
Peaceful location, great position, cool experience in an old wooden hotel surrounded by mountains.
Nice to have a well equipped kitchen available.
Diana is a very special host.
The location is wonderful! We walked around many kilometres and enjoyed the views. Amazing village Lauterbrunnen is just 5 min drive or 1 hour walk from the house.
We loved the fact that the chalet is nestled right in the back of Lauterbrunnen Valley and close to various recreation activities and other small towns.
