Unfortunately my itinerary did not allow me to spend longer...
Unfortunately my itinerary did not allow me to spend longer looking around Speicher. The weather was not great either but it has that typically Swiss village atmosphere. The tram ride up from St Gallen on a good day would give stunning views across Lake Constance. The staff at Idyllhotel Appenzellerhof were really welcoming and the breakfast was excellent. Appreciate the spacious lifts that enabled us to move our luggage easily. I’ve also learnt a bit of history of this house/boutique hotel and found it really cool and updated for guests to stay in. This is much better than other historical buildings we’ve stayed in earlier.

It is clean and silent although the hotel is on the main road (not a busy one). A beautiful stay for anyone looking for some peaceful time in a Swiss German village. It is very close to the train station and the city of St.Gallen is only 10-min drive away
