Perfect staff. The gentleman was welcoming, engaging and 'chauffeured' me through the check-in process from hello to the room door. There seemed in him a passion and interest to hone his hospitality skills to perfection. A small shed behind the building was especially made available for the safe and dry storage of my bike. The room was small but sufficient with a terrace door leading directly onto a sprawling roof top lounge with stunning mountain views. Downstairs, an excellent restaurant.
Re-opening in August 2015, after extensive renovations, the Hotel De Londres in the historic and car-free Old Town of Brig dates back to 1884 and offers a charming terrace overlooking the square and...

Check-in was easy. The receptionist was friendly and gave me the option to either speak English or German. I opted for German and happily did the check-in in German - which was a good confidence building exercise (I hadn't spoken much German over the previous 10 years!) The room was clean and comfortable. There was a good range of food for breakfast and the staff at breakfast were friendly and helpful. Again, they were happy to let me talk to them in German - which was appreciated. I should add that I did hear them speaking to some other guests in English. The location of the hotel was very convenient. The hotel is conveniently located only a couple of minutes walk from Brig SBB Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (railway) platforms are virtually straight outside the hotel. All the local bus stops were also located just about 1 minute's walk away from the hotel! So, very convenient for anyone using public transport!
Located in the Valais Mountains, Hotel Haus Schönstatt contactless-Check-In features a large garden and light rooms with free Wi-Fi access. The hotel has a dining room, a cafeteria and a garden café.
The Hotel Europe is opposite the station of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway / Glacier-Express, 656 feet from the center of Brig. It offers limited free on-site parking and free Wi-Fi.

Help were super accommodating, facilities clean, price great. I did not realize it was a hostel but other than lots of young active young people, it was as I pictured it.
A very pretty town, with lovely crisp fresh air. Fabulous selection of shops from fashion to food. Friendly and welcoming cafes and restaurants. Particularly like the pretty main square. Overall a feeling of safety and cleanliness.

Great wee town.
Great wee town. The centre was beautiful, as were the surrounding views. We ate at a local wee German restaurant and they seemed surprised we never booked! getting around Brig was easy...just walk, it's not that big. We would have loved to have explored distant villages, but we had no personal transport. We'd come back and explore more.

Brig is a central town within the Rhone valley.
Brig is a central town within the Rhone valley. It represents a train junction both east to west and north to south allowing access to the cities of Bern & Milan. The town is quite and has a few shops and restaurants which only stay open for a short time in the evening. The centre of the town is car free so peaceful to walk around at night. Brig offers transport links by both bus and train to many of the ski resorts in the area. Be aware that travel by train to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn cost 150CF for two people. Drinks & food are expensive in the town but it is safe and pleasant to walk around. There are numerous walks along the river and into the hillside.

Good location in Switzerland, with direct trains from Zürich...
Good location in Switzerland, with direct trains from Zürich and Geneva airports and Basel SBB station (a bus goes from Basel airport to Basel SBB), just over an hour by train from Berne. Good hiking opportunities, for example from nearby Naters up to Blatten and further up to Belalp.

Honestly, there isn't much to do here.
Honestly, there isn't much to do here. I stayed here because it's where the Glacier Express ended. I would not recommend it at a destination but if you need a place to spend the night in this area, it is fine.

Not much in Brig apart from the Stockalper.
Not much in Brig apart from the Stockalper. But it has a small and attractive old town centre, amazing views up to the mountains if weather is clear and, primarily, this is a very good place as a base for travelling by train to other parts of Switzerland on day trips and likewise it is only 30 minutes by train from Italy.
The location on the upper edge of Old Town was excellent with quick access to restaurants and cafes. The breakfast buffet was very good and had large choice. The view from my balcony was probably the best of any hotel in the city. The manager (Ulf) was very pleasant and provided helpful suggestions about where to hike and what to see (and spoke excellent English). There was an elevator to my room on the second floor of the comparatively new building attached to the original.
We booked this hotel mainly due to its location which was definitely worth it, as it really is just next to the railway station. If you walk up the streets for 2 minutes, you are in the heart of Brig. The hotel itself was not spectacular, the decor is a bit outdated and the rooms were smelling a bit like in a nursery home, but you have big windows so after 5 minutes you don't smell it anymore. The room is nicely sized and has very comfortable beds.
Breakfast was excellent - home-made muesli, home-made preserves and home-made bread as well as a selection of cheeses and cooked meats... The room was great - twice the size of most hotel rooms, with a view over the nearby castle towers and of the mountains (of course)! The location was great - only three minutes' walk from a choice of restaurants and five minutes from the main shopping and eating area of Brig.
Location was only a couple blocks from the train station and Bahnhofstrasse where there are lots of shops and restaurants. The staff is professional and available for questions. The hotel has a restaurant serving typical Swiss cuisine and has a daily menu in addition to the regular menu. By Swiss standards it was reasonably priced and excellent.
Nice room - spacious, large tub, plenty of room to sort luggage. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was good. Location was great - next to old castle in the old part of town. We sat in the old plaza in front of the hotel to have a glass of wine and people watch. The owner was very welcoming - nice to talk with him. Short walk to the train station.
Great room with a view to the mountains in the sth from the balcony. Only an hour and half from Zermatt by train, easy as a day trip. Brig itself is a great little town to explore and experience..Self check in was easier than expected with no issues.
Beautiful decor and a very attentive staff. The room was charming. The location was ideal to explore the quaint little town of Brig. Coffee on the large terrace area in the morning (and wine in the evening) was sublime.
Excellent breakfast. Liked the location above the trains. Good shower. Not modern feeling. Very close to the train station. Close coop supermarket. Close to the old city streets. Close to the rhone river.
This family owned and run hotel provided us with a wonderfully warm welcome, a delightful room, and great food.
It is ideally located in Brig, for those travelling by train and keen to explore on foot.
Very relaxing old fashioned hotel. Nothing spectacular, but I slept very well. Advice : pick 3rd floor if you can : quiet and great view. Good breakfast included. Also, good parking ground in front.
We had a balcony on the fourth floor. And we spent a lot of time there to watch the world go by. That little balcony, if nothing else, is where we are going to leave our hearts in Switzerland.
Very clean, comfortable, and quiet hotel. Check in process was simple and it was actually nice not having to deal with reception. Breakfast was great! A selection of meats and cheeses, breads.
A place to stay while visiting Brig. They offer free on-sight parking. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the train station to visit Zermatt. Very friendly staff!
The hotel is located a short walk from the train station. Room was of good size and clean. Breakfast was good too. Met our expectation and value for money.
