Skellefteå is a town with an intriguing history.
Skellefteå is a town with an intriguing history. A pretty town on the banks of a large river. The view across the river of the beautiful main church has been obscured by an ugly multi-story parking garage. Who thought up that damaging action? The town is currently in the grips of street optimization. The narrowing of the main East-West street, is questionable and will soon cause traffic congestion. The station is still in place, but no rail traffic goes there apart from goods !! The infrastructure around the railway and station needs to be optimized and take advantage of the existence of a rail link to the rest of Sweden and the outside World.

I stayed 5 days, mid September, for a conference and had some free time. When it wasn't raining, I enjoyed beautiful walks along the river (4 hour circuit), and I ran to the coast (12 km away), and through forestry roads. Easy returns by public transport as the busses are frequent and accept credit card. I did not need Swedish money at all during my stay. The town museum is a must see, even if small, and you should visit the historical part of town, which is nearby. I confess to only having eaten asian food while in town. I did not identify a restaurant with Swedish food, which I would have liked to try.

The city centre fun fairs, concert and market are very attractive We love the city, food, drinks and people The weather was fine when we came down from the north where rained everyday Sweden is nice place to come back Some good restaurants were full. The one to river sold good drinks and food. Services is splendid

The EV chargers are also located in the back parking and accessible by charging app. Generous buffet breakfast, clean and spacious rooms, supportive staff.
