It was difficult to find a restaurant in the area for dinner, but we finally found one in a neighboring town (Shiozawa). There is a well-stocked supermarket and many pharmacies for daily needs. We enjoyed spring skiing at Kagura and want to go back during the winter season when there is more snow. It's better to have your own car to get around the area.

A ski resort town just an hour away from Tokyo, the bus terminal side of the station got a good old Japanese vide to it, and the back is more tourist centric, the closest resorts, gala, and Kogen is smaller than expected with crowed narrow runs, but with a 20 mins bus ride you can get to kagura, which is a bit old but with wide and good runs of all difficulty, and you don’t need to wait for any lift

I go to Yuzawa during winter.
I go to Yuzawa during winter. Naeba is my go-to place for snowboarding. It has excellent slopes for beginners, and also some tight curves for the more advanced. It's a little village, public transport is reliable but not frequent; so make sure to check the time table.

Breakfast was great.
Breakfast was great. Japanese style breakfast with many choices to choose from. The only thing I didn't like was the futon style beds on the floor. I just had knee surgery in March and getting off the floor in the morning was difficult. Staff very friendly and spoke english.

Excellent visit.
Excellent visit. New finds were a) spaghetti restaurant within station called Uonuma Italian Grill & Dining. Best spaghetti I've ever recall having b) electric-assisted bikes for rent next to station. Critical given the hills in the area. And priced very reasonably. I was able to tour the town for the first time.
The Japanese Style breakfast was high qualigy and tasty. There was a small onsen for 3 people. On the first floor, it has a ski rental shop. If you rent ski/SB here, there are free transportation to Yuzawa ski ares. Ski House location was good, only 700 meters ( 5 minutes walk) to Echigo Yuzawa Station, and in opsite of Yuzawa Kogen Ski Center. Near the House, there are so many choices for dinning.
loved the onsen, baby friendly- has combi seats to seat the baby whilst showering. enjoyed breakfast and especially dinner. children enjoyed the food too.
fyi catch the free shuttle from their office. exit the west exit of Echigo yuzawa train station, turn left and walk about 50m. included a photo what the office looks like as you are walking along the road.
The friendly staff ..the old couples ( might be the owner) very nice to us informing about the shuttle service n lend us the kids shovel n sled for free.
Big toilets n big rooms. Bus shuttle for free and you need not to worry to go to the ski resorts n back to hotel. Just don't be late with the timings.
The hotel is 3 mins walk to Lawson .
Incredible value for money. Hotel was in walking distance to Naeba Ski Resort, and had clean and comfy beds and rooms. The owners also rented ski equipment and provided lift passes at a very affordable price, and provided pick up and drop off when we were going to and leaving the property.
The price was very low for the size of the room, which was spacious and very comfortable. Everything was clean and the beds were cozy. The kitchen was large and pretty well equipped. The location was great: close to many ski resorts, onsen, convenience stores, and a big supermarket.
The location is great. It was close to the Gala ski resort (it's a 10 minute walk to the ski resort. it's much better to take the hotel shuttle). The Kaiseiki dinner was delicious. The view from our tatami room was beautiful. the hot spring bath house was good.
Really love everything here! We love the breakfast package here! It’s really close to Yuzawa Kogen resort so it’s very convenient for us with kids. The staffs are nice to especially when we go around the area. They offer free shuttle service to Echigo Yuzawa Station
Very nice room, well furnished, on very pretty grounds. We stayed in a three-person Japanese style room, which was set up with two western beds and one futon set on tatami. The hotel provided some sweets that went well with green tea (a tea set is also provided)
Very helpful and friendly staff, simple clean rooms, nice big lounge area, super close to the lift and bus stop, and there is a nice outside onsen a short walk down the street. It's a very convenient place to stay if you're skiing in Kagura.
very good onsen facilities (2 floors of onsen with different baths available) . Location near to train station. Food options wise might be a little limited late at night near the hotel. Hotel is best visited during the winter?
