It was difficult to find a restaurant in the area for dinner...
It was difficult to find a restaurant in the area for dinner, but we finally found one in a neighboring town (Shiozawa). There is a well-stocked supermarket and many pharmacies for daily needs. We enjoyed spring skiing at Kagura and want to go back during the winter season when there is more snow. It's better to have your own car to get around the area.

A ski resort town just an hour away from Tokyo, the bus terminal side of the station got a good old Japanese vide to it, and the back is more tourist centric, the closest resorts, gala, and Kogen is smaller than expected with crowed narrow runs, but with a 20 mins bus ride you can get to kagura, which is a bit old but with wide and good runs of all difficulty, and you don’t need to wait for any lift

I go to Yuzawa during winter.
I go to Yuzawa during winter. Naeba is my go-to place for snowboarding. It has excellent slopes for beginners, and also some tight curves for the more advanced. It's a little village, public transport is reliable but not frequent; so make sure to check the time table.

Breakfast was great.
Breakfast was great. Japanese style breakfast with many choices to choose from. The only thing I didn't like was the futon style beds on the floor. I just had knee surgery in March and getting off the floor in the morning was difficult. Staff very friendly and spoke english.

Excellent visit.
Excellent visit. New finds were a) spaghetti restaurant within station called Uonuma Italian Grill & Dining. Best spaghetti I've ever recall having b) electric-assisted bikes for rent next to station. Critical given the hills in the area. And priced very reasonably. I was able to tour the town for the first time.
The hotel had a shuttlebus from the station. That was great because we had a skibag with us. Next time we will send the skis one day before we arrive.
The hotel is big, it has a shop, onsen. We tried the private bath, it was great with western style.
Yamamoto has a desk at the hotel so you can easy leave your ski bag and send it to your home. The will help you to fill in the forms.
What we liked best about Yuzawa Ski House was the location and staff service. Everyone was really helpful and nice. We were also picked up and dropped off at the station and chosen ski resort! They also gave us great discounts in the ski lift passes and upgraded our rental gears for free! We will definitely 100% stay at Yuzawa Ski House again.
The friendly staff ..the old couples ( might be the owner) very nice to us informing about the shuttle service n lend us the kids shovel n sled for free.
Big toilets n big rooms. Bus shuttle for free and you need not to worry to go to the ski resorts n back to hotel. Just don't be late with the timings.
The hotel is 3 mins walk to Lawson .
A great place to wind down and calm your mind. The onsen facility is very good. We tried both the private and public spaces. Love the outdoor onsen experience. The hotel has a very lovely lounge with free coffee, tea and snacks. The location is near the train station, comfortable walking distance.
The owners/operators are amazing, very friendly happy people. Our room was clean and comfortable. The Onsen was great as well as the laundry facilities. I’d recommend it for anyone in a group on a budget. Walking distance to Naeba and a short drive to Kagura ski resorts. We’ll be back.
Ski-in ski-out design, very convenient. Night ski is provided. All kind of services related to skiing is provided. Ski shops and different kind of restaurants are provided in the resort area. Free shuttle bus service is provided back and forth Echigo-Yuzawa station.
Our room is Japanese style and it was spacious with a nice view of the mountains and the shinkansen line. They also have a free shuttle running from Echigo Yuzawa Station to the hotel (this is very convenient). The buffet breakfast was also very nice.
The hotel had provided free shuttle to fetch us. We approached the JR tourist info counter to phone the hotel for the shuttle and it arrived in 5 mins. And the dinner and breakfast provided was excellent! The onsen facilities was good.
The hotel room was very comfy, service was great, outdoor onsen was amazing, buffet bf and dinner were good. Very clean and thoughtful they even provide yukata and slipper to wear for onsen. Will come back and stay again for sure :)

The location is near with station and have collaboration with ski rental in special price. There is a free shuttle to Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort. They provide a good coffee and other amenities for stay.
It was awesome experience specially on Breakfast..! I am pure VEG and based on my request hotel staff prepared very good breakfast. though it was in Japanese style but staff take cared well..!
location is very near the shinkansen station. there is a small ski rental shop in front of the hotel which rental fee is cheaper than in Gala. the room is large, clean and comfortable.
The bath is really spacious and beautifully designed. Hotel provides shuttle service to Yuzawa station which is really convenient and food was perfect too.
