Customer service was good and the front desk staff was helpful. Consider using google translate if you need to communicate with the staff. I also was able to ask the front desk to call a taxi for me so that was also helpful.

The room was very spacious and it was a traditional Japanese style room. There was a window in the bathroom of our room with a view on the mountains and the river. The onsen was empty for most of the time and it had an outside bath.

The house is very big and comfortable. There is a well-thought house guide that is very helpful for foreigners who cannot read Japanese. The owner is very responsive and friendly. All toiletries are provided and are way, even more, better than staying in hotels nearby. We have visited Itoigawa several times already and stayed in different hotels, but this house was the best place we have stayed by far. The neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet so you can sleep very well.

Unique experience. The owner is fantastic person to talk with. I chose this place expecting to see a home style Japanese culture, people living in Itoigawa, and learn what kind of variety of people who visited Itoigawa. If you care about comfort, this is not for you. Actually when I think about the accommodation comfort and food later, this place was not cost-effective at all.
