Grand Hotel and Résidence De Draak is located in the center of Bergen op Zoom and is the oldest hotel and also the oldest company in the Netherlands, dating from before 1397.

On our drive from Luxembourg to Amsterdam we looked for a place kind of on the way. We decided on Bergen Op Zoom when we found this hotel. Turns out it is the oldest hotel in The Netherlands. It is located on the city square. It's a very picturesque main square and was bustling with people on the Sunday afternoon when we arrived. Lots of places for a beer, a coffee, chocolate and a pastry.
The hotel is very nice - since it's so old, it's not a surprise that is is broken up onto multiple levels and corridors. Charming, however. The staff is very good - well trained and helpful. A little formal, but highly professional. They recommended a Thai place for dinner which was terrific!
We opted to have the hotel breakfast and glad we did. It was excellent - with a wide variety of pretty much anything you could want.

Cute little city with a bustling town square. We arrived on a Sunday and there were tons of people enjoying a sunny day. It's a beautiful city center - the side streets were interesting and it was a great place to walk around for a couple of hours. We stayed overnight at the Grand Hotel de Draak - a very historic and excellent hotel. Check it out!

Bergen op Zoom is a small Dutch town, very beautiful, good walking spots. Very good transport links. Probably not as touristy as the main cities in Netherlands (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven) but a great town that really needs to go to. Great history

Our family have just moved to live in the area so we had never been previously but were greatly surprised by the variety of restaurants and the shops. Only there for the weekend but will return as soon as we can. Only one bit of advice remember to take comfortable shoes for walking, plus my husband found a store selling vinyl LP's.

Had to cancel our booking 24hrs before due date as both my husband and I tested positive for Covid with several symptoms and our 2 friends were clasified as "case contact". Had a confirmation from the hotel via message service on Booking.com, incl. "price cancelled by property". However, several days later my bank informed me that 198 Euros were taken from our a/c via my card. No invoice/receipt and all messages or even access to messaging service to this hotel disappeared from my client page. Spoke to to the hotel this morning, Was promised a call back in 5 minutes. Still waiting. I cannot even try to claim our lost money on insurance without a proper receipt. That is dishonest.

You don't actually have that much to do in Bergen op Zoom.
You don't actually have that much to do in Bergen op Zoom. It's a really quiet city. There are some celebrations and special dates but nothing fancy. For a daily life is pretty nice. You can walk it really well. There are parks but only one shopping mall (ish). People are really kind and welcoming, since this is a city which don't have tourism as its main income, they try really hard to make you feel home.

A great town in North Brabant, to explore the surrounding areas. I stayed at Bergen op Zoom and made day trips (about 100 km in one direction) to explore Zeeland (Westkapelle, Sluis. Sint Anna Ter Muiden, Middelburg...etc) I also visited Knokke-Heist to see a bit of Belgium "Monaco"
Great location in the historic town of Bergen op Zoom. We were blown away as we walked into the space which is located inside what was a retail shop. The room was beautiful and the spaces that were ours went on for ever - bedroom, kitchen, Bali inspired outside courtyard, covered terrace with comfortable seating and additional cooking facilities. There’s a secure space to store bikes.
The location is steps away from the palace and city gates. There’s interesting streets to explore- a more authentic vibe than the bigger tourists towns…
Excellent host, great reception, location is 5 minutes by car or 15 minutes by bicycle to old town of Bergen op Zoom and yet outside of town, surrounded by trees and open fields. On top of the "Brabantse Wal" with great views from its terrace. Good breakfast in a nice living room / kitchen that you share with the guests of the other room.
Great place to take your bicycle and explore the surroundings.
Quiet place where you only hear the birds and the local cock in the morning.
The hotel’s location is very good being next to the railway station and 10-15 minutes walk to the centre of the town. The room was clean and comfortable with a side lounge and kitchen area. All appliances worked. There was no noise despite being above a bar/restaurant and facing a street. The breakfast was very good and offered cooked options. The hotel staff were very friendly and as we arrived just after 11.00am kept our luggage safe while we explored the town.
Beautiful hotel right in the centre of the market square of the quaint town, but still quiet in the rooms. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Highlight was the (paid for additionally) chef's tasting menu in the hotel restaurant; it was absolutely superb (one of the best meals we've had on any trip) and excellent value for money. Great base location for driving/cycling the Delta route.
This if very much a privately run hotel and because of that it felt welcoming and cozy. The room was on the small side but the bed was comfy and breakfast good. Free tea and coffee was available from the breakfast room. There is a nice (quiet) pub just along. They also have safe storage for the bikes. Despite it being close to the train station, it was very quiet
Lovely quiet location overlooking the park and the sea on the edge of town Hotel has a pool and wellness suite too, good sized rooms and great breakfast Town centre close by and very charming with good choice of bars cafes n restaurants
The hotel, is located in the center of town, so close to all amenities one wishes for. The sound-proofing is good so that sound from the town square is well filtered. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Overall accomodation is good.
Great location! Lovely French Chic style hotel. Very comfortable! The hosts very helpful with any requests! Gorgeous breakfast and lunches on offer too. I will definitely stay here again when I am visiting my family nearby.
We enjoyed our stay here. It is a typical old Dutch hotel so expect steep stairs. The rooms however are comfortable. The location is great, right across from the train station and a short walk to the center of town.
Beautiful Hotel in amazing square with bars and cafes , rooms were superb and perfect for our stay .
Staff were very polite and professional .
View from windows across square was great in morning.
