FAQs about hotels in Wagrain
The average price per night for a 3-star hotel in Wagrain this weekend is $133 or, for a 4-star hotel, $293. Looking for something even fancier? 5-star hotels in Wagrain for this weekend cost around $390 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
Wagrain is all about skiing. If you don't ski, there isn't much to do around Wagrain. Swimming pool opens in the afternoon, so does the skate ring. If you have kids, there is no much other fun things to do. Most of the restaurants open at 5 pm. If your hotel doesn't offer lunch meals, you can only help yourself with snack from the two spar groceries in the village.
The ski bus is great, it runs every 10 min. However, the streets are narrow and it may get quite tight, if you meet a bus while driving.

Wagrain was a good base for many activities in a family summer vacation:
Super close:
- Grafenberg - great views, a big playground for kids
- Jaegersee - a lake with amazing view and a restaurant (I recommend the icecream). There is a short hiking trail around the lake and you can rent boats.
- Flachau indoor waterpark - Not a must, but good for rainy days (can be very crowded)
Up to 1h drive:
- Salzburg
- Lichtensteinklamm - Beautiful but very crowded - I recommend arriving right at opening time
- Gosausee - Beautiful lake also with a hiking trail
- Grollinger waterfall
- Hallstatt - Very crowded so arrive early or don't bother.

Have been visiting this ski area since 1986 and gone through all spots involved in the skiing area. In lunch time I went to the Alms where I was every single time. And always found what I wanted. Travelling either by the ski-buses or rent a car has never been a problem. Dining took place in the towns of Wagrain, St. Johann or Flachau and good restaurants easy to find.
Amazing views, beautiful estate, excellent facility, lots of space, clean and quiet. Sauna is super and you can dive right into spring water pool which is really cool (literally :-) ). Good for either family or group of friends. We stayed at the bottom apartment, which was good but I think the upper cottages are superior. Try to get those, if you can. You must have a car to get there, it's out of the village Wagrain, which by itself is a great choice as a base for trips in Salzburg district.
Super nice owner Maria, always in a good mood and with a smile. Good location for skiing in the ski area Wagrain / Flachau / Zauchensee. Tasty breakfast. Very clever idea for accommodating larger and slightly noisy groups - cosy wooden house in the garden, fully equipped (fridge etc) so you can party outside the main building without worrying about disturbing other guests.
Perfect place for a family skiing trip! Just next to the slope (few minutes walk, back to the door by ski). Very spacious, ready for families (small playground outside, sledge to borrow, animals around, friendly hosting family,..). You only might need snow chains to get there and to get back to Wagrain for shopping if needed - but it's worth it ;-)
Very pleasant hotel in a good location. The rooms are nice and clean with a view to the mountains. We really liked the short distance to slopes and lifts. The hotel breakfasts were amazing and we also enjoyed the afternoon snacks, which were a good refreshment after the whole day on skis. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly.
The location is good for skiing. 100m from a small bar lift that brings you to Flying Mozart
The apartment is beautiful and very comfortable. It is spacious and well-equipped.
The hotel owner is very pleasant and helpful.
The ski room is the best I've seen.
The location is nice, not in Wagrain itself but just 3min walking to the Roter 8er lift.
The owner is very cooperative, friendly and reachable. Fresh milk and eggs could be bought directly from the owner, bread is offered daily, delivered to your door.
The Alpina Wagrain hotel is beautiful, very meticulous and clean. The atmosphere is family and pleasant. The hotel has many facilities to enrich the children's time like a pool room and games pool and spa.
We stop at this hotel on our way to Croatia. It is a very nice and clean hotel that serves its purpose. The breakfast in the morning is great. The beds are great and the view is phenomenal from the balcony.
Second time visiting Haus Gumpold. Still fantastic - clean, quiet, spacious with great views to the Wagrain valey and slopes. Amazingly friendly owners. Will be back for sure.
