It is a really nice little lake town, well located to nice hikes and great restaurant options. Cleanest alpine lake I have seen and such lovely small town vibe. we loved it even more that Halstatt, St Wolfgang, Kaprun and Zell am see!

Excellent , a walk by the lake and a splendid dinner at Carl-Zone can really make your day. You can enhance your trip by hopping on to any of the boats and visit near by places be it St Gilgen etc , There is boat running between Strobl , St Gilgen and other small villages located by the lake (Wolfgansee) , hope to get the name right

Strobl is perfect, everything you need is there -- shops, restaurants, bakery, tobacco shop, post, banks, gas station,... Very good starting point, we went both sides of the lake by bikes, used the ferry, as well as the beach there.IvoCzech Republic - 10Scored 10
Not as crowded as other cities around Wolfgangsee, but...
Not as crowded as other cities around Wolfgangsee, but offers good spots for swimming, including beaches. Also nice, but rather short promenade along the shore. Do not expect many live pubs or bars, but the number of restaurants is sufficient. Other towns (St. Wolfgang etc.) are easily accesible by public trasnsport.

The lake is wonderful.
The lake is wonderful. One can stroll or take a boat trip or just enjoy a cup of coffee and a apple cake in one of the many coffee shops on the lake shore . You can visit the villages along the lake or take bike trips.

Could only get 3 days at another hotel not as well situated...
Could only get 3 days at another hotel not as well situated for the beginning of my trip. Moved to Brandauer the last day of my trip. So glad I did as it was really nice, especially the beach/spa areas. And breakfast on terrace. Will definitely use it my next trip. And the reception staff were really nice and accommodating of my requests.

And each morning, a hearty breakfast in dining room with rustic setting views of the surrounding mountains. Nice warm sauna in basement level to warm up after walks in the cool autumn air. Food store in town just 7 minutes down the hill. Super access to the surrounding region: Wolfgangsee, Mondsee, Traunsee, Hallstatt, -- short drives away.

Owners are very kind and gave us great suggestions for our trip. We enjoyed the area very much. Bike rental available across the street with very good prices. Strobl is great for a more quite vacation while you have everything you need and an easy access to Wolfgangsee and other attractions and it not too crowded by tourists.

The bed was not with spring so for once, we were able to get some good sleep, else all beds in Austrian hotels had springs and were uncomfortable. We had to leave early, so the host packed us some breakfast for the road. She was delightful and kind and a super perfect host. I would super highly recommend this location.
