There are lots of hikes in the area as well as cycling/mountain biking trails. You can also go white water rafing/kayaking on the river Isar, which is an amazing aquamarine colour. The town is near the border of Austria and Germany and you can visit the ruins of the old border wall.

The possibilities to spend time outdoors are countless and the fact that there is a train station in Scharnitz, makes this place of accommodation very interesting. There aren't many restaurants nearby, so it's good to take that into account. The hosts were very welcoming and kind, and the information received from Heinz about the hiking trails in the area, as well as the weather, were particularly valuable.

I liked everything - cosy and clean room with nice view of mountains, very good breakfast, close proximity to the cable car in Seefeld and Mittenwald (Karwendel) and very hospitable hostess! I definitely recommend the Frankenhof Hotel to those who want to spend a good holiday in the area near to Karwendel National Park. Thanks to Analise for very warm welcome!

They will help you all the time. They also provided me with the train pass from Scharnitz to Seefeld during the whole stay. That was very nice of them. I like it so much that I will book the same hotel when I will go there again.

That was a bonus we did not expect, and we greatly appreciated it. The rooms were quiet, had nice views, and the hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The breakfast was tasty, fresh and varied.
