The best thing is its Location. It's walking distance from the Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof ~ 400 meters. Other than this the apartment has some nice views from the apartment. The apartment that we had, had all basic amenities in the kitchen. The rooms are a bit old but clean. Before coming to Obertraun, you must keep a watch on the weather.

We stayed in Obertraun as a base to explore Halstatt but found as our trip got closer that there was a lot more to do in Obertraun and Halstatt than originally thought so our one night stay turned out to not be long enough. If I were booking again I would definitely stay two or three nights so we could explore the salt mines, walks and view points.

We stayed in Obertraum so we could take the ferry to go to Hallstatt by ferry. The ferry ride was amazing, heavenly peace and tranquil. However, we did not know enough about the area. Obertraun is probably the best place for easy access to Hallstatt (besides being in Hallstatt itself). Bike rentals are easy and the bike ride to Hallstatt is also easy with very little elevation change. Lots of biking in the area.

Perfect location, fantastic view to Hallstatt and the mountains. Easy to reach Hallstatt even with bicycle, Dachstein and mountains are also very close. Small village, quieter than the nearby Hallstatt.
Small village, quieter than the nearby Hallstatt. Can walk around everywhere on foot. Good for few days with public transport, longer than that you may want a car since there is only one restaurant ("Pizzeria") and buses come only once per hour.JessicaIsrael

Clean room with big toilet and comfortable bed. Good wifi and private parking in front the property. Walking distance to supermarket, restaurant, lake and the boat to go to Hallstatt. We loved our short stay here!!! Highly appreciated than they allowed us to leave our car in the parking after the check out. Obertraun is way less crowded than Hallstatt and so so beautiful. Don’t miss your chance to explore more of Hallstatter See.

Apartment was very clean and it is only suitable for 2 people stay. Pizerria near banhof Train station is really good , for the location it was reasonably priced. This is the only eatery/restaurant that is open on Sunday in Obertraun. The host allowed us to do early checkin and explained everything to use in the apartment. The bus-stand was right outside the house so transport was very easy from Obertaun to Hallstatt and back. Their home and rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The house is in a quiet location outside of town. This was our best stay in our six-week European vacation.
