Lech is one of, if not the best, ski resort in Europe imo.
Lech is one of, if not the best, ski resort in Europe imo.
Beginners can start at the Fluhen drag lift then move on to the runs above Oberlech served by Petersboden, Weibermahd and Kriegerhorn lifts. When feeling confident there is the fun option to ski over to Zurs which is a superb run. Just beware the blues directly above Lech are steep and probably should be marked red at the bottom.
Intermediates can progress to the runs above Zug, ski in Warth-Schrocken and complete the "white ring" to St Anton. For experts there are many black runs and off-piste throughout the Arlberg area.
During our week the conditions were significantly better in Lech than in St Anton and the Arlberg had better snow than most (as is usually the case).
Lech (& Oberlech) village is beautiful and there are plenty of restaurants and bars. Oberlech is easily accessible by gondola which runs until 1am. One can ski to Zurs or St Anton or take a bus. There is sledging and hiking for non skiers and meeting others for lunch is simple.
The drawbacks compared to its main European competitors are that it doesn't have the size or nightlife scene of St Anton, Verbier, Meribel, Zermatt or Val D'Isere. Nor does it have the extent of beginner skiing of Courchevel 1850. Apart from that it is very, very tough to beat as Europe's premier ski resort.

Lech is a very nice little town with all the amenities.
Lech is a very nice little town with all the amenities. Easy to walk everywhere and the blue bus is free. It is however expensive so be prepared. The skiing is dependant on the snow conditions. The Blues are not always blues so beginners beware.

Lech is the best resort in the entire alps!
Lech is the best resort in the entire alps!
It's not huge and crazy like St. Anton, rather it's smaller and refined.
It boasts the MOST snowfall of any resort in Europe (along with Warth which is on the backside of Lech.)
The only problem is that Lech is very expensive €€€€€ and it books out really fast. So it's a nice splurge trip maybe once a season, but is too pricey for most people to go more than that (especially families.)

Great place during the summer as well for motorbiking, cycling, hiking and also just wandering around in the mountains. It has great restaurants and bars and in the middle of the mountains, the Lech river can offer the serenity you are looking for.

The apartment was beautiful and very well equipped.
The apartment was beautiful and very well equipped. The proprietor came to collect us from where the coach had dropped us as we couldn’t get a taxi. The property is genuinely ski in/ski out. The hotel next door, the Salome, was a great place to lunch and dinner and hang out on the sun terrace. Easy busses into the Center of town run every half hour and it’s a 10 minute journey from 5 mins walk away. All in all a lovely stay.

Quiet and upmarket ski resort.
Quiet and upmarket ski resort.
Pricey compared with other ski areas, but there are a huge number of lifts and runs to choose from.
Very well managed, pistes are wonderfully maintained, no waiting times at lists - even in high season, and very friendly lift personnel.
Restaurants are expensive, and book out weeks ahead of time. Recommend you book 1-2 months before you go!

The hotel's staff is wonderful. Service was excellent - delivered with Austrian warmth. The meals were excellent. The chef is inventive - we stayed over a week and not one meal was a repeat. The spa was great - sauna and steam baths. The location is fantastic - next door to the Rufikopfbahn and across the street from the Schlegelkopf lifts. We stored our skis/board in the ski shop downstairs. We had them wax and sharpen our gear - and did a great job of it.
the owner Juliana was really nice, she speaks English, which is not common in Austria. she is lovely and welcoming. breakfast is good with selection of salty and sweet options. it is also including a sweet break in the afternoon. I went during winter time and there was a freelocal bus from the pension to Lech taking only 5 mins. room was nice, the bed really comfortable.
Very comfortable and high quality Austrian style 2 bedroom flat (no. 6) which was very specious for 4 people. 2x modern bathrooms and the whole place was spotlessly clean. Parking is right outside and it is a 9min walk to the centre of town.
Michaela and her family who run the place are fantastic and extremely welcoming and will certainly return!
Amazing stay!! This hotel is the epitome of a beautiful, cozy and perfectly operated old school Alpen-inn. The family who own and operate things make you feel so incredibly “at home” while also serving up Michelin Star worthy meals. Slim Aarons would have been fortunate to stay and feature this lovely inn as the ideal Lech experience. Wow!!
Johannes and Barbel were the perfect hosts, they were incredibly helpful and Johannes cooking was just superb. The hotel was immaculate. Our room was large and airy with a fantastic walk in shower in the ensuite bathroom. It also had a balcony (but as it was snowing this was not used)! Just adored staying here and hope to come again soon
All of the food options were excellent, definitely don’t miss the Austrian restaurant nor the Alter Goldener Berg for traditional fondue. Breakfast is also excellent. Most importantly, the entire staff was genuinely attentive and beyond responsive to any requests or needs. I cannot recommend highly enough.
All in all we have enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
The hostess and staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The room was spacious. Location is great. Very quiet. Comfortable private parking with easy access to the hotel.
Breakfast was good. Nice selection and tasty.
Super clean and convenient if you want to stay in Oberlech. Ski in ski out (a short walk). Super organized getting ski passes. Fresh bread delivery optional. Ski lockers at the entrance. A short walk uphill from the Gondola connecting Oberlech with Lech proper.
Incredible. The Familie Wolf are generous and welcoming hosts in their hotel. The half-Pension dinner was excellent and varied. The wellness area is spacious with more than enough room for all the guests. I highly recommend Hotel Hubertus.
The hotel has a great location, close to the slopes, sometimes the little t-bar next to the place is open and makes starting the ski day easy.
Simple, comfortable accommodations, great bathroom.
The guests gets an amazing value for the money. Hotel is super clean, great located and the service is beyond 😀 the dinner was excellent and the rooms comfy and very clean.
Very nice location, and the facilities in the hotel were very good. Nice breakfast, enough choice.
