We stayed in Füssen for one night.
We stayed in Füssen for one night.
We spent the next day visiting the castle. There were a lot of tourists, and the tickets for the castle were booked out.
We came to show the kids, but probably wouldn’t have gone to the top if it was just my husband and I.
Lots of overpriced gift shops, and very much geared for tourism…

Beautiful hiking trails.
Beautiful hiking trails. You can walk to town and Neuschwanstein if you are in good shape. Much better than trying to find parking. Beautiful views. I would recommend going late in the evening as there is not that many tourists.

Neuschwanstein is without a doubt one of the most beautiful castles in the world. We stayed for a day to visit both castles, but wished we had stayed longer to see more of the nature around it as well.

It's in a fantastic location and is very peaceful and relaxing. There is a lot to see, not least the castles built by King Ludwig. There are also many lovely walks to take and it's ideal for cycling, as there are lots of cycle tracks. There are lots of superb hotels to chose from, all in good locations and plenty of good restaurants and cafes. The mountains around are beautiful, and one of them has a Tegelbahn (cable car) at the top of which is a very good restaurant and a place for people to hang glide down to the valley below. There are also lots of walks up there with amazing views. Schwangau is close to the town of Fussen, which is well worth a visit and is at the border with Austria. There is also a lake, Forggensee, where there are regular boat trips.

Perfect location for visiting the castles and for hiking.
Perfect location for visiting the castles and for hiking. Gorgeous scenery. We enjoyed a walk to the lake in the evening at the sunset. Getting around Schwangau is easy both by car and by public transport.
This is a lovely spot for a weekend getaway or longer. We were here on the end of our trip in Germany to visit nearby castles but were happy to have booked this hotel. The heated pool is fantastic and the whole facility is so large and spread out that crowdedness is not felt even though we could see it was busy. The restaurant translated every night’s menu to English for us which was a great gesture and sign of a fabulous and considerate host. Breakfasts are generous with lots of options. The decor is modernized Alpine and beautiful.
There was not a single thing to not like. Without question this is the best place I have ever stayed on any vacation. The breakfast was like nothing I have ever experienced and never want to eat hotel breakfast at any other place again, the staff was incredible and friendly, parking if you brought a car was easy, rooms were large, and clean, and quiet, views were amazing and the spa was incredible. Three people from our group had a massage in the spa and said it was without question the best massage I’ve ever received.
Very nice property, clean and well maintained. The staff were very nice and friendly. The shower was amazing, very good water pressure. Comfortable bed. The surrounding area was gorgeous. Easy walk to Schwangau if you need to get a bite to eat or do some grocery shopping, Rewe is decent size market with everything you will need, closes at 8. Bus stop about 2 min away, will take you to the castle area. Decent breakfast buffet in the morning, good coffee. Great stay, only wish it was longer.
The apartment is conveniently located close to Neuschwanstein castle, it's 5 minutes drive to one of the parking lots, from which you can walk towards the castle. You can easily get into the apartment, the keys can be retrieved from the box nearby the building entry door regardless of the arrival hour. The apartment is a good choice for a short stay, however it lacks some furnishings to suit longer stays. For example there are no chairs and there is only a very small table.
Very cute, Bavarian-style hotel right in the middle of Schwangau. Walk (or very short drive) to castles and sights (Neuschwanstein; Hohenschwangau, Wittlesbach Museum) and Alps. Despite its traditional Alpine decor, it had the modern conveniences. Hotel staff was very friendly. Able to walk to some restaurants. I recommend easy hikes/walks around the Forggensee lake in Schwangau and around the Alpsee lake next to Hohenschwangau, both with well marked trails.
I really enjoyed staying here. The rooms are very clean and cozy, making me feel like at home! The location is really good, you can walk to the castle or the old town in 20 mins. There is also a bus stop nearby, you can take free bus with your guest card. Artur is really kind, he picked us up at the Füssen station. He introduced the facilities in great details and recommended us good restaurants. I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends.
Everything was exceptional about this hotel. The location is perfect with a castle view from the balcony. The staff is super friendly & helpful and make you feel like you're talking with a friend. The rooms were spectacular with wonderful amenities. Breakfast was the best we had on a month long tour of Europe, including the coffee!
Loved this place. Upon our arrival, we were greeted in the lobby and offered a glass of prosecco. This is an upscale hotel that pays attention to the details. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. The spa area, included for hotel guests, was expansive and well equipped. And if this isn't enough, you look out at the castle
The room was exactly as pictured and met our needs. The view was outstanding, and easy getting to the castle shuttles and local bus stops. Way better value than the hotels right around the corner, that didn't have our view! We spent hours on the wrap around deck looking at the gorgeous castles and surrounding greenery.
Most important: owners and staff had always a smile in their faces! They were very gentil and kind … all the time. Very comfortable family hotel. Nice and great room for families. 5 min driving from Neuschwanstein castle. Excellent breakfast with beautiful dishes. Nice free coffee, tea and cake in the afternoon
The hotel is extremely well located close by the lake and at a cycling distance from Neuschwanstein castle. The personnel is very nice, we almost felt like home. Breakfast was delicious. The place is very calm and and absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we plan to come back.
It is in close proximity to castles and public transport. There were lot of options for breakfast, the best part of this hotel is the surrounding, the lawn, plants, rabbits, veggies, fruit plants, table tennis, kids play area.
Bonus - Night view of the Neu Schwanstein castle from balcony.
Good stay if you want to be near the famous castle of Neuschwanstein.
It is a big resort so numerous rooms and numerous people.
Breakfast buffet was good. There is also a bar and restaurant at the hotel; quite convenient.
Rooms are small but it could have been cleaner.
great family hotel very friendly people working there and amazing breakfast. Our balcony had even a (limited) view of Neuschwanstein Castle! The surrounding are stunning! the lech river and Plansee in Austria are breathtaking. Pristine water
The location was perfect for the castles either a 40 mins walk or catch the local bus into Hohenschwangau which is free with the hotel travel concession. The staff were all marvellous and the breakfast was great although a little expensive,
Very beautiful apartment in lovely location of Schwangau, both castles and the lakes are walking distance from the house. Perfect for vacation all year around. Super cozy and perfectly clean, lovely host. Highly recommended!
We chose Huberhof for its convenient location and close proximity to Tegelberg, Forggensee and the Füssen area. The breakfast was good value and the rooms were - generally speaking - nice.
Beautiful small hotel in a very cozy place overlooking the forest and the castle. Delicious food, friendly staff, what else do you need for a two day trip?
