This is one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We were in the area without a reservation and just stumbled on Falkenstein because of comments posted by others. We stayed one night and were completely blown away. Highly recommend staying here!
This 4-star hotel is set in beautiful Alpine countryside in the Allgäu region of Bavaria, a 10-minute walk from Pfronten. Guests enjoy free use of the saunas, steam room and gym.

Magical place to stay for winter holidays, surrounded with lots of ski and tobogganing tracks, great communication with another villages.
Food scene quite limited , same as night entertainment, I would rather to have a bit more of this to spend betters nights.

The check in at arrival was a bit hectic.
The check in at arrival was a bit hectic. We eventually figured it out. Other than that place was great. Clean. I must say The walls are a bit thin. The place is somewhat quiet, you can’t help kids that go wild in the morning. Location was good for a walk and for pets. Big with comfy beds. Everyone gets there own sheets and towels. Much appreciated. The bathroom is not in some rooms so that is shared but that was ok. And the beds are not king size but queen size FYI.

Beautiful small village right next to the most iconic castle of Germany and starting place for many hiking or bicycle trails,
Good variety of local restaurants, but city itself pretty dull after closing hours, which were little bit early.

My stay was too short to make a proper review, but the place itself has a big Supermarkt, good bars and restaurants (I recommend both the excellent Augustiner Gasthof Adler and Ye auld fellows Irish pub (next door to each other)) and is ideally located between Nesselwang, Tannheim and Füssen, all just a 15 minute drive away.

This little ski town was a wonderful addition to our stay in Germany. Lots of scenic views of mountains, cows in pastures, and a slower pace. Our host was very pleasant and helped us to feel welcomed. We used this hotel as our base and traveled in to Fussen and the castle. I fully recommend this hotel!

Absolutely gorgeous setting right under the Alps with a view...
Absolutely gorgeous setting right under the Alps with a view of the Zugspitz. The town is a typical, Bavarian town, with lots of charm and sports facilities, especially for winter travelers. We were there in late spring, so couldn't take advantage of these, but took beautiful walks from right outside our door. It's a good jumping off point to the area as well.
Felt like a home away from home. Big livingroom, bedroom, bathroom and a kitchenette. Good interior. Balcony connected the bedroom with livingroom. And the balcony was separated from our neighbors with a wall, so you have your privacy. The room was very clean, comfortable and had all the necessary things for the kitchen. Views of the mountains from the apartment were amazing. This hotel surpassed my expectations and I really enjoyed this stay.
We were astonished by the quality of the hotel and apartment! The rooms were well furnished. The children's room, for example, contains toys and books. A very nice touch and very thoughtful.
The view of the mountains is breathtaking. The village is beautiful. If you go there, be sure to eat at the Gasthaus Adler, a 527 year old restaurant. It is an easy 10 minute walk from the hotel.
- Nice and clean room
- Great breakfast with much variety
- Pool
- Nice view from the balcony
- Garage for motorcycle
- Fridge to store food in common room
- Close to supermarket and restaurants.
Overall it's a good hotel for a short stay, but for a long stay it needs an improvement (see what didn't like).
Had been to Pfronten 5 times in the past and it has been a
treat every time. location was out of the downtown area ,
so quiet with easy access to the road leading to Fussen.
and the castles there. Close to the pretty Alatssee lake.
right next to the gondola going up the mountain.
Room was large with eating area and small kitchen. Breakfast was decent. Coffee ok. The hotel is off the beaten path so if you are walking everywhere you might want to be in town. We went for the cattle drive and it came right behind the hotel so it was a great choice.

Visiting family who live in Pfronton. Excellent location. Quiet, scenic, immaculately clean locale (compared to UK public places) as was hotel inside & out - flawless. Bjorn & Simone the hoteliers - thank you again - loved my stay with you!❤️
Wonderful breakfast and top service during breakfast. Plenty to choose from and all top class product. Very nice assistance from the hotel owner who is very professional and welcomed me with a smiling face for breakfast. Nice balcony
Cozy Hotel managed by a kind-hearted family. The entire ambient of the hotel during a skiing vacation was just perfect.
Breakfast was good.
Common area with available beverages always accessible.
Proximity to different ski slopes.
The staying was very comfy, the breakfast had many food options. Aalso the hotel provides some beverages service so you don't have to go out if you need something.
The location and the view from the hotel was amazing.
The location of Pfronten for the surrounding countryside is lovely. this would be true of any hotel in the area. The room was good however I would call it a hotel room with a mini-kitchen rather than an apartment.
We were really surprised about the hotel method, where there was no staff besides cleaning staff during the morning. Everything was super clear and easy, they even have a little self service market.
A substantial breakfast was served in the room.
The location was good, a short walk into Pfronten town.
The host Susanne was very friendly and informative about the local area
The lady who ran the hotel was very nice! The breakfast was good. The location was great. There is a place to walk your dog right out back. The view from the room was beautiful.
Parking directly on side of hotel. Great check-in. Great hot water and heat. Quiet little village. Very large room. Very reasonable price. Clean room. Nice bed. 10 +++
We had a wonderful time in Pfronten. Birkenhof Pension is amazing place to discover real Bavaria :) And the place is much more beautiful than in the photos :D
