I visited Kochel with the sole purpose of going to the Kristall Therme. It was totally worth it! The therme overlooks the lake and the surrounding mountains, the staff are extremely kind and helpful, and it is possible to drive or walk from any of the main hotels. Kochel is best for outdoor adventure - cycling, hiking, skiing, etc. I walked around a bit and visited the Franz Marc Museum (pretty nice, actually), but I didn't do much else. Beware of bad weather and disrupted train schedules. I was stuck for part of the day because the trains couldn't run (debris from the storm on the train tracks) and the replacement bus couldn't get through (roads were closed also due to debris), so I had to take a very circuitous route back to Munich. It was possible though! And the mountains during snowfall was beautiful!

They added a special touch with a chocolate on your pillow and a bottle of sparkling water when we arrived. The breakfast was excellent with a big variety and various special items, plus the breakfast room was super cozy and really nicely decorated. Staff were very friendly during breakfast and at the reception. Gave us great info on hikes in the area and provided a map to take. We’d definitely stay there again.CatrinaUnited States of America

I even got a card from the hotel, with which I could use the local bus for free. Great for solo travelers without car! After hiking during the day, I enjoyed delicious dinners in the restaurant every evening. Overall a super nice stay and incredibly good value for money. I will be back soon

The fish was superb, it’s really fresh as it's literally from the lake next to the hotel. There’s a lot of historical content going on as well. We stayed in a nice big room with a lake view.

I also liked that the hotel had an elevator (lift) so the luggage didn't need to be carted up by hand. The room was quiet, the view with the snow in the mountains very nice!
