Central location convenient for visiting the two castles. There is nothing there apart from a series of hotels and a few restaurants. Even so, much more conventient than staying further out and paying for parking etc.
For more amenties and activities apart form the castles try Fussen, 15 minutes away

This city is amazing and the people are so nice.
This city is amazing and the people are so nice. I had all good experiences during my stay in the area. The Castle Hohenschwangau is worth a visit as well. Most people just go to Neuschwanstein, but please visit the Hohenschwangau Castle as well. Do not eat at the Hotel Muller Bistro quick snack place. The Jumbo hot dog was terrible, and I had an ache in my stomach the rest of the day. Eat at one of the sit down restaurants!

Woman from reception was completely stressed out wich is unpleasant if you have just traveled so we didn't feel very welcome when checking in. After 17:00 not possible to eat anything. Bad WIFI and breakfast ( no fruit) that was not what you expect fir this price. Rooms did not have insulated walls. Perfect distance from the Neuschwanstein castle ( only 200 meters)

We only had one night here which had to fit into our other travel plans. Was a great experience and we will be back for at least 3 nights so we can do further mountains, hikes and cycling. The place has stunning vistas can highly recommend.

Fairy-tail castle build by a romantic young king in a fantastic location high-up in the Bavarian mountains and overlooking a lake surrounded by dense forest. It is a destination worth seeing, part Disney World (the castle itself), part reality (its location). Prior reading up on the historical facts is recommended, though. Visits are well organized, but generally require some waiting for busses and scheduled tours. The physically fit can hike up, instead, but everything has its price, including parking.

Hohenschwangau was a winter fairytale.
Hohenschwangau was a winter fairytale. We had gently falling snow for our stay in December and the township was lit up for Christmas. It was truly magical. We enjoyed the drive through the wintry countryside to get to this destination, one of the most beautiful drives with snow-laden trees and a snow cleared safe passage. Neuschwanstein Castle is a short walk or horse-drawn carriage ride free from the township. There is ample paid parking (10 Euros for a car) for those visiting the castle on a day trip. We dined on traditional Bavarian food a short stroll from our hotel whilst other members of our group dined at Hotel Muller. Service is exceptional. It is like the service providers in this township have made a collective pact to leave every visitor with the best and warmest memories to cherish. I will be telling everyone about this wonderful experience.
Location is ideal for visiting the castles, immediately next door to the shuttle stop--the recommended way to get up to Neuschwanstein Castle. The hotel is also just a short (but uphill) walk to Hohenschwangau Castle. The included breakfast was complete, hot and delicious. Hotel and restaurant staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is impeccably clean. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant both nights of our stay, and the food was delicious.
The property was cozy and in an ideal location. It was an easy walk to both castles. The owners were extremely helpful and generous, and gave us great ideas for things to do in the area. Our kids didn’t want to leave the house because they had so much fun playing cards by the pellet stove and building a snow fort in the yard. The beds were very comfortable, and the house slippers provided were perfect for lounging around.
Perfect location, a short walk to the lake, museum and transport to both castle's.
Our room was warm and comfortable with an amazing view of Neuschwanstein Castle from the balcony.
The staff were extremely helpful and courteous.
Breakfast at the hotel was excellent as were the meals we had in the restaurant for dinner. We would definitely stay here again.
Perfectly placed to stay overnight to enjoy exploring the castles and surrounding area. Great to be able to take in the beauty of the castles, town and lake into the evening and early in the morning, without the crowds. Hotel very comfortable and great value for the location. And how often can you have breakfast looking out at Schloss Neuschwanstein!
Very nice hotel, very close to Neuschwanstein castle, in fact the rooms had a perfect view of the castle. Stayed in a family room with two rooms, there was a nice balcony. The bathroom was big and clean, the breakfast was nice. The staff were helpful. There was a private paid parking lot on the other side of a small street.
Everything was wonderful. Clean, Cozy, Good Food and Great Location. Easy walking distance to a museum and 2 castles. The friendly staff went above and beyond to make out stay an enjoyable time in Hohenschwagau. So if you’re ever in town and need a place to stay or some good food, I would recommend Hotel Alpenstuben
You can't beat the location and view at Hotel Garni Schlossblick when visiting Schloss Neuschwanstein. The room was clean and comfortable with a great view of the castle from the balcony. Breakfast was great, and you also get a pass for local buses and trains in the area included with your stay.
The location is amazing, overlooking the nearby castle, so within walking distance. Not much further to a few restaurants too. We only had breakfast in the hotel but this was ok. Our room had a balcony that looked directly at the castle so this was a bonus!
the hotel's location was charming and beyond expectations you can visit the two castles easily and there is a peaceful lake near by. the breakfast was good and generous portions and the waiter was patient and friendly (his name is Emiel)
The Neuschwanstein castle view from the location.
Dining room has class view of the castle with a window which shows it like painting. Good value for weekend stays. Close to Alpsee and Hohenschwangau Castle. Bus stop walkable .
Very good hotel near from castles and restaurants in the village, you don't need your car so far. Very clean and confortable room with everything expected from an hotel. Good continental breakfast.
Location couldn’t have been better. You can see both castles from the property, and it’s a 10 min walk to Hohenschwangau castle. Neuschwanstein is easy too but a longer walk (same for everyone)
Location is great, Neuschwanstein castle was visible from our room, staff was helpful and the hotel restaurant really worth to visit. We enjoyed the stay.
Excelent location near Neuschwanstein Castle. Great parking space near the castle that you can get to via a private road with your booking reservation.
