The town centre is nothing special, a typical shopping experience in an industrial city. However, find your way to the magical old town and you are transported back in time to beautifully preserved buildings and streets. I imagine that the tiny cafes and tea rooms open in the daytime create a relaxing and civilised atmosphere to compliment the architecture.

The location is also perfect, right in the beautiful old centre of Hattingen. It’s calm and really amazing. Restaurant in the hotel is also very delicious with kind staff and the breakfast was great too- many good options. The town was delightful and Ruhr Inn was only an easy 10 minute walk away so we were able to wander the village for an hour and a half often dinner in the evening. Beautiful.

Lene on reception was so helpful she went to so much trouble to book us a restaurant in the town which was quite hard as the Christmas Market was on, nothing was too much troble for her.
