The town centre is nothing special, a typical shopping experience in an industrial city. However, find your way to the magical old town and you are transported back in time to beautifully preserved buildings and streets. I imagine that the tiny cafes and tea rooms open in the daytime create a relaxing and civilised atmosphere to compliment the architecture.

As it was such a compact part of the city, there were great choices for restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel had its own lively restaurant so we really were spoiled for choice. The town was delightful and Ruhr Inn was only an easy 10 minute walk away so we were able to wander the village for an hour and a half often dinner in the evening. Beautiful.
