The staff were all friendly and pleasant. The breakfast food was plentiful and dinner was really good. There were always a lot of diners so we were not the only ones who felt it was terrific. Very quiet location once you get used to the church bells— and surprisingly we did so quickly!

The guestroom in a private house was wonderful, new, spacious and clean. There is a bed of 2 m and one of 1.80 m, which were a bit worn but still OK. The bathroom is excellent (having both a shower and bath). The host prepared a magnificent breakfast with all kinds of bread, tea / coffee and orange / apple juice, lots of cheese kinds and lots of salami kinds. We had interesting table conversations and to get to the old town centre on foot is really easy. In Hattingen one can find 2 pizzerias, 2 thai/chinese restaurants and even more Turkish Döner snack bars. All very 'preiswert'. The number of ice cream salons is stunning. Next to admiring the groovy atmosphere around the St George Church we also had a look at the abnormal situation of the Ruhr river, which had flooded the day before we arrived. The high water level had reached an all time record of +7 metres above normal. All in all our one night stay in Hattingen has made an excellent impression on us. Very much recommended!

Were in Hattingen for an art course and to visit the Christmas market. We enjoyed walking in the old part of town, a concert in the church and the markets. The restaurants that we visited were mediocre.

The town centre is nothing special, a typical shopping experience in an industrial city. However, find your way to the magical old town and you are transported back in time to beautifully preserved buildings and streets. I imagine that the tiny cafes and tea rooms open in the daytime create a relaxing and civilised atmosphere to compliment the architecture.
The hotel is very close to the center, and the buses and trams are within a 5-7 minute walk.
It’s cozy and exactly what I expected
The owners of the hotel are super friendly and helpful. I asked them a bunch of questions about the are and they helped me out a lot!
It’s definitely a place I would recommend
The location is amazing, in the middle of old Hattingen. The restaurant is lively, very good German food and amazing for a drink, with or without kids. The hosts were very helpful, both during dinner time as well as breakfast. The hotel room was clean, spacious and modern. We will definitely come back.
Very clean and comfortable. We chose Hattingen purely because it was about halfway from Bruges to Goslar. But what a find. The town was delightful and Ruhr Inn was only an easy 10 minute walk away so we were able to wander the village for an hour and a half often dinner in the evening. Beautiful.
The hotel was excellent. Lene on reception was so helpful she went to so much trouble to book us a restaurant in the town which was quite hard as the Christmas Market was on, nothing was too much troble for her. A valued member of staff definitely an 11 out of 10 for her.
Very clean, incredible sauna and spa. Very friendly staff and very helpful! Very short walk into Hattingen which is a very nice town with timber framed buildings and lots of history. The hotel is very close to the railway station and the trams.
