Beautiful decor, great location. The conservatory was a relaxing environment at the end of the day, with either a cuppa or a wine. Breakfast was substantial with our room tray which included museli, yoghurt, and fruits. The friendly staff also served us eggs and toast with plunger coffee. Highly recommend.

Launceston is a relaxing town with plenty of well...
Launceston is a relaxing town with plenty of well preserved early Australian colonial era buildings which gives it a nice old feel like Ballarat or inner Sydney.
In comparison,
Melbourne has largely replaced its 1850's gold rush architecture and slower pace of life from the 1800's with hideous steel and glass towers and grid lock traffic.
Launceston makes a good base for before and after completing the challenging Overland Track hike in Alpine Tasmania. It is a pleasant place to walk around for half a day.
We found some places to eat
with acceptable/ affordable versions of food from Singapore and other
East Asian restaurants( albeit tailored to the largely white Anglo local population's palates ).
You won't get an authentic Japanese Soba Noodles meal !!.So trust me on this one, because I know.
In Launceston on weekdays trekkers can easily obtain necessary outdoor gear supplies , such as: attire; freeze dried meals ;stove fuel and spirit burners( The latter two items are banned on airlines) for multi day independent bushwalking and hiking in Alpine Tasmania .
The airport is a 30 minute taxi ride from the town centre.

Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than expected. There aren't many shops/restaurants around but enough.
If you are into nature, hiking and camping, then Launceston and its surroundings is the perfect goldmine. We loved Cradle Mountain and the endless hikes it offered.
There are many quaint little coastal towns to explore too up north.

There are a lot of short trips from Launceston for viewing other locations of interest.
We did the short river cruise which was very interesting.
Lots of good dining facilities in and around Launceston.
Great motor Museum for car lovers.
Enjoyed our time in the City Park - definitely worth devoting a few hours.
Another location we enjoyed was the Cataract Gorge.
Wonderful old home (and once a private hospital) which has been made into very comfortable accommodation. I loved the fireplace. The rooms are very large with everything you'd expect in hotel style accommodation. It is a short walk downtown to restaurants, bars and shops. Launceston is hilly and the building is near the top of a hill, so the walk back up may be trying for some. This accommodation was excellent value for money.
We left the property as the facilities were not nice and our bathroom smelt strongly of cigarettes. Not sure how the cleaning staff aren’t flagging that someone had been smoking in the room to save others the hassle. We went to another hotel in Launceston and despite not being able to get a refund on the room because we booked through booking.com it was the best decision to leave as we had the most wonderful time there.
The staff at Balmoral were incredible, always very welcoming and on hand to assist. I had a later check in upon arrival and this was no issue - and each morning they were there to assist with the breakfast - which as a bonus inclusion - as well as any requests. The rooms were neat and tidy and location is perfectly within the Launceston CBD.
The Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston is a lovely property. It is extremely well located with easy access to the City and is surrounded by lots of eateries. Car Parking is available but cannot be guaranteed. Daily rate for parking is very cheap. The foyer area is usually abuzz, which creates a welcoming atmosphere.
The Sebel was the perfect starting point for our walk on The Bay of Fires with pick-up from the front door.
The hotel restaurant is excellent offering a mixture of both western and Asian cuisines, a must try for visitors.
Easy walking distance to the centre of the CBD.
Good to know that even with new owners, Art Hotel on York continues to provide a very comfortable stay in Launceston within a great location at a very reasonable price. Looking forward to returning to Art Hotel on York on my next visit to Launceston.
Friendly service, very close to Launceston CBD and nearby attractions, plenty of parking, beautiful rooms especially ones within the old silos. Restaurant food is high quality. Covid check ins enforced when entering hotel and the restaurant/bar etc
The staff are awesome! Very friendly and helpful. Hotel is new, with nice modern design and very clean. The pillows and bed are very comfortable. Priced reasonably. Will be staying again here when I go back to Launceston.
Highly recommended!
The villa was pristine clean and had all the facilities. There was a fully equipped kitchen and laundry. The swimming pool was indoor and clean. We were touring around Launceston in the morning and had a perfect rest in the evenings.
Clean and quiet room in a convenient location. I checked in twice (one week apart) after hours and the hotel manager gave clear information about how to access the keys. I will stay here again the next time I come to Launceston.
This was an experience I had not had and wanted to try, thought I was in Japan

The best rain showers
Nice hotel, big beds, and a good location for getting around Launceston from.
They also have a nice restaurant downstairs.
Also a good scheme where you can opt out of daily cleaning services in favour of a discount on food.
This hotel was great for our one night stay in Launceston. The temperature of the room was perfect which is usually hard to find with apartments. Located close to a bakery that we walked to in the morning
