Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than expected. There aren't many shops/restaurants around but enough.
If you are into nature, hiking and camping, then Launceston and its surroundings is the perfect goldmine. We loved Cradle Mountain and the endless hikes it offered.
There are many quaint little coastal towns to explore too up north.

Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get.
Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get. Look for value for money. Make sure you are aware some properties do want their money days before you arrive and not on arrival. Stay central to access in walking distance to businesses.
Look up parking, locations etc before trekking out.

Just a short review of penny royal.
Just a short review of penny royal. There were notes of charges of 250 to get room cleaned. I didn’t ask if that was extra cleans Launceston seem a pleasant reasonably small city. Suited me fine. Had a wonderful day with family we ate a a bar in Charles street over from target. Beautiful food. Even burgers I normally wouldn’t eat were delicious. Sorry I can’t recall the name. But it was loverly and we sat outside an had a drink and shopped for a couple of hours
We stayed at penny royal. Very unusual and quaint. A lover very happy would go back
What a fabulous place! The Audlington Hotel was one of the best accommodations I've ever stayed in. The owner was very helpful and knowledgable, showing me everything necessary to have a comfortable stay. The room was large, the bed very comfortable, and the towels were the best I've ever experienced. The spa bath was very welcome after many hours of driving and walking, and the view from the balcony over Launceston was lovely. Easy to walk downtown or the river, with plenty of good restaurants and shops nearby.
Compares other hotels we've stayed in Launceston, Windarra gave us the home feel, home neighbourhood feel & parking right in front of the house also feels like we're at home.
Deco in the room is lovely.
Our room, #5 - many windows & the view from window & the balcony is beautiful.
Gordon is so friendly & helpful.
Simple English breakfast is included.
Note: This is a big villa with different rooms in it, each booking books 1 room (not the whole house)
This is a great place to stay for a couple of days in Launceston. It’s located on the edge of the CBD, close to the stunningly beautiful Cataract Gorge. The hotel is adjacent to the slightly eccentric Pennyroyal visitor attraction which means it has the benefit of a few places to eat and drink that a hotel in this type of location wouldn’t normally have. My room had clearly been recently renovated and was spotlessly clean.
This was one of the nicest apartments my family and I ever stayed in. Modern vast space in an old building. Beautiful old brick wall down the side of the apartment. Master bedroom had ensuite and the second bedroom had another bathroom to access.
The decor is loft style chic, think rich person in New York. Location is right in the heart of Launceston
Nothing at all it was not the hotel that we booked. Hotel Launceston has been converted into an office block.
After spending 1.5 hours trying to find the hotel having seen the original hotel Launceston in the centre of town we had to enquire with the locals to find where we were to stay.
The staff are awesome! Very friendly and helpful. Hotel is new, with nice modern design and very clean. The pillows and bed are very comfortable. Priced reasonably. Will be staying again here when I go back to Launceston.
Highly recommended!
Beautifully designed hotel, with great facilities and within walking distance of all sights in Launceston. Staff were very friendly and helpful (special call out to Abee, who assisted with a change of room from a Twin Single to King).
This is great hotel to stay in Launceston. Remodeled rooms and bath that are spacious. The bed was comfortable. The sofa was a bit less so. Quiet room. Comes with a nice continental breakfast which is ample. Host was super attentive.
This was an experience I had not had and wanted to try, thought I was in Japan

The room was good, comfortable and ideal location in relation to the CBD. Wi Fi was good, and staff were friendly. I have stayed at your hotel on a few occasions and will so in the future. Would recommend to family.

Definitely one of the best hotels we have stayed at. Room was clean, modern and well serviced. Staff were friendly at check in. Plenty of parking. We were able to walk to the CBD and everything we needed.
We had a great deal through Booking.com and for the price we paid, we were very happy with what we got!
We would be happy to come back and stay at this hotel if ever we're in Launceston again!
Stay was okay I was born in Launceston Tasmania had to attend a Memorial which was sad and picked The Colonial Motor Inn due to memories - very tired Hotel now I would not stay again
