As we were doing a road trip through Italy and Switzerland then into France pontalier was a ideal place for a stopover. Its directly on our route and everything is there for what you would need. We even had a 3 course meal and wine at the supermarket which was within walking distance

Coming from Switzerland Pontarlier is the next city with infrastructure. It really is a charming city with a lot of possibilities to spend not only an evening. Especially for children there are many exciting venues and a lot of things to explore.

You can buy breakfast at the hotel or save a bit and walk to the boulangerie where they serve coffee and OJ or buy from the supermarket which is closer. Friendly staff, clean a bit basic but comfortable and quiet. We were on a motorbike and found it save enough to park in tte hotel car park. We would stay there again is is a good base to explore from.
