Our stay in Bourg St Maurice early July gave us the opportunity to go hiking and cycling.
Positives:
It is easy to access the town by train
There is lots to do for all the family.
An easy cycle route along the river; climbs to the ski resorts and lots of E-bike trails and places to hire E-bikes if that’s your sport.
There was lots of kayaking on the river which was fun to watch and Im sure fun to do if you have the ability!
Hiking trails are well marked. Locally there’s an easy etang stroll or you can walk in the mountains.
The funicular up to Les Arc was opening on 98.07.23 for the summer so you could access the hikes up there without a car.
The old town has charm. There are two huge hyper markets and sports shops
Negatives:
It is a working town so some parts are functional rather than pretty. However, the hydroelectric station is quite interesting.
Some shops and restaurants were closed. I don’t know if this was seasonal or permanent.

Essentially a travel hub in the winter for various ski resorts - La Rosiere, Sainte-Foy, Les Arcs and onward to Val D'Isere and Tignes, down the valley to La Plagne and further Courcheval etc. Railway services to / from various including Paris and London. Travel in/out of the valley is hit and miss depending on timings - namely school holidays, ski season weekends etc. with frequent delays and traffic jams at those times. Outside of that easy traffic / access. Plentiful public transport, free buses (La Ronde) etc, plus buses to key resort, Funicular to Les Arcs and onward travel from the bus terminus to other resorts. Intermarche/SuperU/Lidl supermarkets and variety of local shops and restaurants as well as The Cooperative St Bernard - a must if you are a fan of cheeses. Various sport shops (Intersport) as well as a McDonalds on the Seez/Les Arcs roundabout.

Great town for accessing Les Arcs (and La Plagne).
Great town for accessing Les Arcs (and La Plagne). The funicular is quick and easy. The town has 3 good supermarkets. Nightlife for teenagers not great, but the funicular runs until 11pm on a Thursday if they want to go out in resort.

Good little town with plenty of amenities, swimming, free bus if required, shops.
There wasn't much in the way of après-ski, and the town was very quiet after 8 pm. We found good local restaurants esp Le Chalet. Also loved the cooperative laiterie, great cheeses and local produce.
One down side: Dog mess everywhere. Cleaning up after dogs does not seem to exist and all the verges and grassy areas were no go areas.

Everything was really perfect. The entire hotel is beautifully decorated and well-run. The room I had (ground floor, lovely South-facing terrace with table, chairs and a sun-bed), a few steps from the indoor pool, was very comfortable and ideal for me. An excellent breakfast is provided in a delightful dining room, with the walk to the nearest restaurants and the centre of town being no problem at all during the daytime, although worth taking the car at night. There is ample (free) parking and a good, strong (free) wifi signal.
Managed to find this lovely 3rd floor apartment on a last minute booking of a ski trip to Les Arcs. Very central in town of Bourg Saint Maurice and is a short walk to the main train station. Lots of restaurants nearby and Lidl grocery store too. Lots of space in our apartment and cooked some breakfast in the kitchen was handy before our day of skiing. Owner Sophie is very friendly and she speaks excellent English.
We have been to Bourg Saint Maurice several times. This was the best stay that we had. It was a pleasure to be greeted by Nobert. We loved everything-location, cleanliness, parking, the lift. The appartment was better than the pictures indicate! Would love to come back.
The hosts are amazing, we booked this hotel as part of the TMB and after a long day it felt like coming home. Wonderful Karine made us a homemade delicious meal, the room was spotless, spacious and comfortable! Everything was perfect!
Great stay at Ludivine's. Super efficient communication, great welcome upon arrival, very clean appartment, well decorated and comfortable - all you can dream of for a stay in Bourg-Saint-Maurice
the staff was really bad and most of them don’t talk English and was racist I don’t advise anyone to go there they talk to like shit and the food was really bad at the hotel
The hotel room is spacious, clean, has everything you need. The sad is not modern, but it's not really an issue for me. The only downside is that there is no elevator.
Owner = Fantastic
Hotel and ammenaties = Fantastic
Food = Fantastic
Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Husband and wife team, with top notch facilities.
