The town lives in the shadow of Santa Claus Village but is worth sightseeing for itself. The modern architecture, the Arcticum museum, good infrastructure, nice surroundings - there is much to see and do for a couple of days.

A nice town at the arctic circle, museums, sporting facilities, theatre, shopping malls, reastaurants, hotels. It has an airport connected with Helsinki, Dublin, Brusseles (and perhaps more).
There is a whole village dedicated to the Santa Claus theme.
There are buildings made from ice during the winter, some hotels and wedding-places among them.

Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit.
Rovaniemi is a really great city to visit. In winter the city is under a lot of snow but has always trucks to get the snow out of the road, small rocks on the pavement to prevent from falling.
Rovaniemi has a lot of green tracks and its is lovely to follow them along the river. Great places for children to play too.
For dinner time, I can recommend the MonteRosa restaurant in the city center. Great and friendly service from all the employees, excellent food and drinks. (I can recommend the salmon soup, the grilled salmon and the reindeer cooked two ways).
For lunch, I went to Cafe & Bar 21. It was busy from 12 to 15 (I guess very popular) but nonetheless very enjoyable. Combining the bar/coffee with Yuca (a mexican restaurant) is great because people can have different lunch if wished. The deserts are also excellent.
For the activities, everybody can found something that they like. For the french people you can found the Nordic Odyssey office to book activities with a french translator (even if the english explanation I had where really understanding). It can always be helpful for the people who can't speak english.
You can found supermarket everywhere and some of them are open until 22:00 which is great.

I loved it all..the taxis are quite expensive but the bus was great..I loved it that much I wanted to extend my stay. I will be back to chase the Aurora, unfortunately it didn’t so due to skies full of snow.

Santa from the city center was better than the one in SCV (at least for us). He was really communicative, giving us tips and tricks for aurora hunting. After we bought a picture we could take more with our own phone, made videos for our friends etc.
We love that there are different places where you can barbeque during the walking.
Lake from Artikum museum is a good place to see aurora. Loved the winter trails.
Souvenirs are cheaper in SCV than in the city center.

The centre of Rovaniemi is easy to get around and has plenty of shops and cafes, plus supermarkets if you're self-catering. It is a perfect snowy destination in winter. We visited the Snow Hotel (you need to dress up warmly as its pretty cold, but a vodka in the Ice Bar helps!) and also Santa Village, which is probably best for families with small children
Property was amazing. Fit our needs perfectly and there was lots of space. We stayed in the aparthotel which was perfect. Would highly recommend. Very warm, tons of space and amazing facilities at the hotel. Hotel reception staff were so welcoming and friendly They always had a friendly smile and hello for all the kids. The sauna in the apartment was fabulous. You won’t be disappointed if you book here. Photos on booking.com don’t do it justice. Would have loved more time just to use all the hotel facilities. Will definitely come back.
The hotel was brilliant, in the centre of Rovaniemi, everything literally in front of the hotel, buses to Santa Village and Airport are 5 min away, shopping mall the same, great coffee shop across the street and 24/7 shop. The sauna was empty when we went up although they do have designed hours when you can use it depending if you are male or female. Breakfast had loads of options and there is also a restaurant and a bar/grill on the hotel premises both had fantastic food. Would definitely come back if ever in Rovaniemi again.
The hotel in near the main street of Rovaniemi. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the restaurants and shops. The family room is not big. The toilet is small, with a small washing basin. The kitchen is large with a sofa and table. You can make food. The breakfast is simple and nice. There is a large place between the main house and the villas. Easy for parking cars. Overall, the hotel is nice for the price. Because the hotels in the downtown are more expensive, this hotel is a good choice to stay to save some money.
Brilliant hotel in a peaceful location overlooking Rovaniemi, the Lapland Suites are well suited for Families and well laid out. The in-room sauna was a nice addition to the room. The beds were comfortable. The whole room just felt warm and inviting. Breakfast was had a great selection to choose from, including gluten free with a nice view from the sky restaurant overlooking the snow-covered trees. Staff are very helpful and welcoming, and all public areas of the hotel were immaculate and clean.
We were unlucky to get bad weather but with clear skies the view would have been exceptional. Property is right on the lake and too quiet. Amenities are basic but it has what is needed. Please note that if you are booking igloo, do check that you are comfortable with the washroom arrangements. The property is far away from town and a car is very much required.
This property is a experience, just wish we had better weather and luck with northern lights to enjoy it more.
The most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in! The attention to detail and quality of everything in the room is just exquisite. We booked a room as a treat on our anniversary and it was truly an experience from front door to the room! The breakfast was plentiful with dietary requirements acknowledged and the quality of produce was beautiful. Not a bad word to say, we would return to Rovaniemi just for Haawe any day! Thank you for making our day even more special
Excellent location for going into Rovaniemi and access to Santa Village and attractions. Great for kids too as sledging and park opposite. Excellent facilities for washing and drying clothes too. The owner had excellent communication before our arrival and throughout our stay, giving us tips and tricks for getting around. I was really nervous about not using a mainstream hotel company but I was so happy! Really warm and quiet too!
The location was lovely, Based at the bottom of the ski resort.
Sledging off the bridge was great fun for the kids.
The house was warm and very clean. The host was very lovely and helpful. Would recommend and would return!. In love with rovaniemi!
Location for town and SCV was good between 15 and 25 in a cab. We saw the northern lights so all in all fab stay x
Had absolutely everything we needed. Comfortable and spacious compared to a hotel room. Even saw the Northern Lights from the terrace - though because of other buildings they had to be reasonably high. Think you could go down to water’s edge but as we arrived in the dark we were a bit reluctant to investigate in the dark. Would have loved to stay there longer.
gorgeous! the beds were comfortable and the food was plentiful and healthy and delicious. the reaper grounds are stunning and just what I imagined and hoped Finland and the Arctic circle would be. I’m so glad I paid a bit extra and didn’t stay in a cheaper hotel in the city! I could walk outside and see the Aurora at apukka which couldn’t happen in the city.
Great place, modern high quality finishes, well decorated and furnished room with plenty of furniture and space. Whole atmosphere was relaxing and friendly with excellent staff. Stayed in 5 different hotels in Rovaniemi this year and this one is undoubtedly the best.
In a very central location not far from the bridge. We had lots of parking places and the room was really easy to access by all the instructions we got from the host. Really nice place to stay for a lower price than the hotels and with all the equipment you need
Will be awesome if there were northern light sightings, so do check out the weather conditions and aurora forecast for a higher chance to make your stay worthwhile. otherwise, i would say it is just another hotel with novelty of glass ceilings.
Beautiful hotel! Stunning views from the rooms.
Your own private sauna is Amazing! Fire place and snack bar was lovely. The hotel was located in a great area with beautiful winter walking trails and not too far a walk from town.
This is the hotel with the most reasonable price we've found in Rovaniemi during high season. The breakfast is decent, with a small sauna which is really helpful after a day of activities.
I loved the place and the staff.
The breakfast also had a lot of varieties.
A special thanks to the hotel manager Mr. Juhani who was always keen to make our stay wonderful.
Extremely helpful and friendly reception staff, amazing breakfast and a great location! Price high but at that time of the year in Rovaniemi all the hotels are expensive!
