We stayed in Espoo for one night,then stayed four in Helsinki. It was the best way of enjoying the snow (being Irish it is a novelty )and enjoying the peaceful forest surrounding the hotel. It was a great start to our christmas break before going into the city. It was magical and I did a morning hike around the grounds of the hotel. My sons and I loved it.

Espoo is the most prosperous and safest area in Finland. The reason for that is that 40% of Espoo's population has a university degree. The best area of the city is by the sea in the middle of nature.

For those who likes to be in nature. There is nearby two very good birdwatching places: Maarian lintutorni and Laajalahden lintutorni. I also recommend to visit Villa Elfin nearby. Also Gallen-Kallela museum is worth of visiting.

I suggest all visitors to google 'taskumattitalo'. Location is next to Tapiola center, with plenty of services, and also Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA) is just few hundred meters away. Tapiola itself is a unique suburban area with distinct history. The view from windows opened to the center (and Helsinki), especially nighttime it was spectacular.
