Old town vibe. Very nice for a day trip and walk. There’s a few good bars and restaurants, and even in the evening the atmosphere is fantastic.
I would recommend spending one night here, to enjoy the relaxation and the vibe of the place.

Porvoo is a really lovely town.
Porvoo is a really lovely town. Cozy, great architecture and history and really friendly people. I wish that I could have stayed longer and explored.
The canals and the woods surrounding the town add a very special kind of magic.

Beautiful wooden old town and church, full of history from before the independence of Finland. Amazing small restaurants and cafés. Boutique little shops. On the coast and a good starting point for exploring the Finnish archipelago.

It was not my 1st visit to Porvoo, I've been here 3-4 times before. I like this city very much and would like to return again and again! May be my love to this city is inspired by the movie «За спичками» (Tulitikkuja lainaamassa - Borrowing Matchsticks. This movie was filmed in Porvoo. Every time walking through the cobbled streets of the city, I remember the heroes of the film and imagine them on the streets of the city.
In a local museum I knew about Valle Rosenberg, the famous Finnish artist. I like arts and his name was new for me. Valle Rosenberg was born in Porvoo and worked here. His works you can see at the museum. Next time I plan to learn more about another famous citizen of Porvvo - Johan Ludvig Runeberg. My last trip was too short to know more.

A picture perfect tiny old town. Exceptionally pretty.
A picture perfect tiny old town. Exceptionally pretty. We loved the cobbled streets and pastel-coloured wooden houses. Lovely walks along the river, or through the forested area of Castle Hill. Plenty of choices for good restaurants, cafes and places to have a drink. Some nice boutique style shops to explore. A major supermarket in walking distance. During the day the central part of the old town was busy, but would become wonderfully quiet and peaceful by late afternoon.

It wasn't the lack of crowds or the charm which this Southern City had to offer, it was almost definitely the people we met. Relaxed, down to earth, always willing to chat and share their stories with us! complete strangers. Lovely river running straight through with nice boats, cinema, outdoor market, good choice of shops, spoilt for choice for eateries in the area. You have to see the old town! every where you turn there's a beautiful photo opportunity.
Wood peckers & squirrels but no moose :(
This small and cozy hotel is on the absolute prime location in Porvoo standing right in the heart of the Old Porvoo. You can easily walk anywhere to all of the important sights and restaurants. There is a tiny, but sufficient parking space also available in the court yard. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with excellent beds and a small sauna.
Visited during a bike trekking. The owner was super nice and everything worked out nicely, clearly exceeding my expectations. You could buy food, snacks, drinks and the breakfast was lavish. They even had nice cats outside to keep us company. The 2-person room upstairs was spacey and quiet. Highly recommended.
All necessary equipment provided (fridge, microwave, water boiler).
Room and linen were clean.
Automatic sign-in was quite handy.
It is easy to take a bicycle into the rooms, as they're all located on the ground level. There might even be enough space for a recumbent.
The host was very helpful and accommodating. The apartment was spacious and neat. There were plenty of outlets on both sides of the bed, pillows, and comforters. We were very comfortable. Minimal outside steps into ground floor apartment. Parking was perfect.
Really stylish hotel right in the historic center of Porvoo. Helpful staff, really comfortabel bed, stylish showerroom and toilet in room. Hotel sauna also very comfortable. Excellent eggs Benedict available for breakfast.
The location of hotel Sparre is just great, very handy in the centre of Borgå. Our room was of decent size, the double bed very comfortable. Wi-fi excellent. Breakfast was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful staff.
