Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake.
Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake. The apartment was comfortable and beautifully decorated and well equipped for our stay. The train was about a 10 minute walk and has easy access to Milan and also to Switzerland. It was very quiet when we went and perhaps will visit when busier as some thing were still closed such as two of the islands but it was early in the year before the season began. The lake and views are stunning and well worth a visit, nicer than stayin in Milan city centre.

A very picturesque town right on the water.
A very picturesque town right on the water. However most restaurants were closed in February, the shops were closed on Monday and there was very little to do except take the ferry to Isola Pescatore and Isola Madre. After travelling further around the Lake I would stay next time at Arona. Much busier little town with lots of restaurants and shops open. As well as being on the Lake.

Proximity to the lake was excellent.
Proximity to the lake was excellent. Majority of restaurants very good, some pricier than others of course but several with sensible prices. The food on the whole was excellent and plenty of it. The owners of the restaurants and their staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. the fish featured prominently on all the menus and was excellent and fresh.

Not very much to do historically - BUT wonderful for restaurants, ice cream shops, views of the lake. A really good centre for a holiday on Lake Maggiore. Great to be able to go from there by boat to the islands very conveniently. There is also a railway station which is very handy.

We had a lovely time in Stresa.
We had a lovely time in Stresa. Lots a nice little restaurants to eat and bars to drink. People very friendly. Has a nice atmosphere about the place. You could stay in Stresa or go out and about to other places all easily accessible. Would defiantly go back to visit the lake.
We stayed in Locanda Verbena only 1 night on our way to Stresa and the lake Maggiore.
The room was very clean, the bathroom had all facilities, the bed was very comfy and the sheets so clean despite it is not a hotel. A typical Italian "locanda" with its local charm and a restaurant downstairs.
The host was a very polite lady who spoke perfect English :). She served a nice Italian breakfast and tried to respond to all our requests and needs. I would recommend the place for its price and cleanliness.
The hotel has old world charm. While you could see that something’s were worn, it did not distract from how comfortable you felt there. We came for a wedding and it was very close to the train station and about 8 blocks from the wedding venue and water front. Everyone that worked there was extremely gracious. I was glad that my sons came
to help with the luggage as we were on the 3rd floor and after a day of lugging it around, it was very heavy and there are no elevators in the older buildings.
We were completely blown away by this incredibly beautiful hotel. Breakfast was extensive, with lovely tables overlooking the lago, wonderful pools and spa/wellness center in glass pavillion is brand new and included in your stay, staff is perfect, we cannot find enough nice things to say. Our family plans to return as often as possible for a truly relaxing experience - not to mention the very cute town of Stresa.
I read many reviews and chose this hotel over others in Stresa based on the positive reviews. The hotel and grounds are pretty, the pool area was good and there is a nice view from the rooftop. It was a 15 min walk along the lake to get to the main part of town. The room was comfortable with a nice terrace which faced the street (Comfort double room.) It was all very clean.
The Staff were fantastic - always very friendly and welcoming. A real asset to the hotel.
Pool area was nice and quiet, - pool recently refurbished and was very nice. Breakfast basic but good, - again staff very attentive and friendly.
The hotel is in a good location, close to the Lido boat piers and 10 - 15 min walk from the town of Stresa
Fabulous hotel. Spotlessly clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location, one minute to ferry, 15 mins to train station - train to Milan one hour. Amazing views of lake - classic room. Terrace on top floor where very good breakfast is served with fantastic views of the lake. I don’t think there would be a better hotel in Stresa.
Excellent accommodation option in Stresa, next to Lago Maggiore.
Wonderful hosts (Fabio and Cristina), able to help you in any possible way they can (e.g. car pickups, information about the area and bookings).
Air conditioning in the whole house.
Beautiful area in Northern Italy, close to Milan.
Stresa is a lovely place with a real history. Hotel Royal is a short but easy walk out of town and is comfortable. The staff were excellent and the breakfast very good. Staying here was like a little step back in time but I thoroughly enjoyed that and would gladly stay here again.
cozy property, beautiful view above stresa, and outstanding hosts!!! danielle and mirella are absolutely the best host we’ve ever encountered. they really do make sure you stay good and enjoy your time in Italy. a lovely couple and a fantastic stay.
This is an extraordinary hotel ! Everyone is top notch starting with the personable owners, the location by the pier, the stylish suite, the amazing view from the roof top, the cozy atmosphere. It is unparalleled in Stresa ! I adore that hotel !
Great Rooftop Lounge Bar with an Infinity pool. Excellent staff service, really intuitive and very nice. Specious rooms, reception staff so friendly and forthcoming. Would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.
The room was large and you had everything you needed. The staff was also really friendly and helpful. Oh and since it's Italy, one should mention: they actually do speak english and german perfectly
Stunning views. Room was not huge but well appointed. The breakfast was the best offering I’ve ever had at a hotel. Go hungry because there are a million options!
Friendly and helpful staff at the hotel.
Maria at the reception was super helpful and recommended us where to spend a great time a part being in Stresa.
