Stresa is a beautiful town with lovely walks along the lake. The apartment was comfortable and beautifully decorated and well equipped for our stay. The train was about a 10 minute walk and has easy access to Milan and also to Switzerland. It was very quiet when we went and perhaps will visit when busier as some thing were still closed such as two of the islands but it was early in the year before the season began. A very picturesque town right on the water. However most restaurants were closed in February, the shops were closed on Monday and there was very little to do except take the ferry to Isola Pescatore and Isola Madre. After travelling further around the Lake I would stay next time at Arona. Much busier little town with lots of restaurants and shops open. As well as being on the Lake.MaryNew Zealand - 10Scored 10

One of my all-time favorites. I like to come back over and over, again. Nice atmosphere and charming town center. One of the best gelaterias !!! Great restaurants and nice to just hang out. The Borromean Islands and the hermitage Santa Caterina are great places to visit - or you can go to the other side of the lake, even the Swiss part Overall, people are very friendly

Proximity to the lake was excellent. Majority of restaurants very good, some pricier than others of course but several with sensible prices. The food on the whole was excellent and plenty of it. The owners of the restaurants and their staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. the fish featured prominently on all the menus and was excellent and fresh.

Not very much to do historically - BUT wonderful for restaurants, ice cream shops, views of the lake. A really good centre for a holiday on Lake Maggiore. We had a lovely time in Stresa. Lots a nice little restaurants to eat and bars to drink. People very friendly. Has a nice atmosphere about the place. You could stay in Stresa or go out and about to other places all easily accessible. Would defiantly go back to visit the lake.SimonUnited Kingdom

The room was very clean, the bathroom had all facilities, the bed was very comfy and the sheets so clean despite it is not a hotel. A typical Italian "locanda" with its local charm and a restaurant downstairs. The host was a very polite lady who spoke perfect English :). We came for a wedding and it was very close to the train station and about 8 blocks from the wedding venue and water front. Everyone that worked there was extremely gracious. I was glad that my sons came to help with the luggage as we were on the 3rd floor and after a day of lugging it around, it was very heavy and there are no elevators in the older buildings.
