A very picturesque town right on the water. However most restaurants were closed in February, the shops were closed on Monday and there was very little to do except take the ferry to Isola Pescatore and Isola Madre. After travelling further around the Lake I would stay next time at Arona. Much busier little town with lots of restaurants and shops open. As well as being on the Lake.

Proximity to the lake was excellent.
Proximity to the lake was excellent. Majority of restaurants very good, some pricier than others of course but several with sensible prices. The food on the whole was excellent and plenty of it. The owners of the restaurants and their staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. the fish featured prominently on all the menus and was excellent and fresh.

Not very much to do historically - BUT wonderful for restaurants, ice cream shops, views of the lake. A really good centre for a holiday on Lake Maggiore. Great to be able to go from there by boat to the islands very conveniently. There is also a railway station which is very handy.

The people are really friendly and not at all pushy.
The people are really friendly and not at all pushy. It feels peaceful and happy. All of the food we had was excellent. The ice cream is amazing, the tiramisu I had even had sponge in it (not all the outlets do have this). The boat trips are very good and run on time. We did the three island trip and loved it. Also there is a Cliff side monastery Santa Christina (may have spelt that wrong) it’s had a varied life but is in use now and is well worth the trip.
The hotel is in a beautiful area with lots of swimming and restaurants nearby. We loved stresa. The hotel is a tiny bit old and has that classic grand hotel vibe. The bedspreads and carpet could use an update. But the staff was really nice and we enjoyed the stay. There is free parking in a safe garage at a nearby hotel and it was free to bring my dog. The pool access is also at hotel Regina which is next door. Breakfast was wonderful with a lot of options and fresh squeezed orange juice. Overall we loved our stay
This was a last minute booking and the hotel exceeded our expectations. The breakfast and the dinner were exceptional. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location was superb. One simply has to walk down the street towards the lake in order to take a ferry to the various islands. We had a room with a balcony looking towards Lake Maggiore and the view was wonderful. The pool is absolutely gorgeous! We did not use it but if we had stayed longer we definitely would have.
The hotel is just across the ferry terminal, which is rather convenient. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and very comfortable! And the view over the lake is stunning!
We had no luck with the weather, as it was pouring for all 2 days without stopping, and we couldn't enjoy the Island and the lake at all, but mostly stayed inside till it was check out time.
I am sure the place is stunning and has a lot to offer on a nice day.
We had a wonderful stay at the splendid Regina Palace Hotel in the center of Stresa overlooking the shores of Lake Maggiore.
The hotel is filled with historical content, antique furniture, frescoes and chandeliers that give you a sense of history and nobility.
Fun fact: in 1946 the first ever Miss Italia contest was held at this hotel. It was beautiful and the breakfast was splendid, it felt like we're guests in a palace!
Friendly helpful staff, hotel in a fantastic location with easy access to Stresa main square and water taxis to the Borromean Islands. Hotel is beautiful in furnishings with ornate ceilings and chandeliers, a small bar, lounge for residents and a breakfast room with views of Lake Maggiore.. Our garden room had a modern walk in shower, balcony overlooking the garden and modernised double or triple glazed windows.
Staying here was the best vacation we have ever experienced. Gorgeous hotel, immaculately maintained. Excellent breakfast. Gorgeous pool. Breathtaking view from the room. Very friendly staff and perfect location. We went as a romantic getaway, but plan to return next summer with the whole extended family. Plenty to do and yet so incredibly relaxing, Stresa is truly one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
Excellent hotel, very clean and well maintained.
Beautiful views from the balcony and a bright, airy room.
The staff were exceptional- professional, polite, friendly and very helpful from reception staff to the cleaners.
Very good choice of food for breakfast and delicious food in the restaurant in the evening.
An excellent hotel in a good position for access to Stresa and to boat trips.
Lovely regeneration of a traditional hotel location in Stresa. Beautiful lake views from the room balcony and from the breakfast terrace. Great selection at breakfast. Easy walking distance into the town and to the pier on the lake to be able to pick up lake boat tours. Hosts were super welcoming and helpful. As a new hotel everything is really clean and of high quality.
The suite we had was amazing - very spacious, clean and comfortable with a very large balcony with quality comfortable seating and fabulous views. The staff were excellent- a real asset to the hotel. Breakfast was presented beautifully and was great value for the price. We would highly recommend to anybody wanting a perfect place to stay in Stresa.
Stresa and Lago Maggiore is truly beautiful and most certainly worth a stay.
Hotel La Palma has an excellent location, with modern rooms and great amenities such as a large lake side infinity pool and a very cool rooftop pool with amazing views of Lago Maggiore
Rooms are comfortable and larger than at many other lake side hotels
Excellent accommodation option in Stresa, next to Lago Maggiore.
Wonderful hosts (Fabio and Cristina), able to help you in any possible way they can (e.g. car pickups, information about the area and bookings).
Air conditioning in the whole house.
Beautiful area in Northern Italy, close to Milan.
The breakfast was full of cheeses, breads, warm options, fruit, yogurts. The perfect amount to start a day on the move in Italy. The location with lake view is better than photos. Location is off the crowded streets of Stresa. If you want birds chirping and beautiful sunrises, this is the place.
Inside of the hotel very ornate and a lovely sense of history. Lovely dinner and breakfast and even managed to squeeze in a visit to the very nice Spa. Had a lovely last morning in Stresa sitting outside in the sunshine looking out over the lake with first a coffee and then a final Spritz!
Nice hotel, with beautiful views of the Lake. Staff is friendly. Short, and very pleasant walk to the center of Stresa. Breakfast is very good. Be sure to try for a room facing the Lake with a balcony. Very enjoyable to on the balcony and watch the people walk by on the promenade.
The room and the hotel was beautiful a n d extremely well maintained. Really enjoyed our private terrace. The staff was very personal and friendly. Couldn't have picked a better place to enjoy our three day stay in Stresa. The breakfast and drinks was excellent too.
