The town of Dobbiaco is great if you're planning on exploring the Dolomites. It may not be as central as Cortina d'Ampezzo, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper. Lot's of beautiful locations are still within about a 40 minute drive. Which is what we did. We didn't explore Dobbiaco itself that much. Only went there for eating out or groceries, usually at the end of the day after a long day of hiking.
The outside parts of the town feels rural, but the center has a lovely old church and reminds you this place has been around for quite some time. Rural or not, it still has plenty of places to eat out or shop for groceries.
One pub was quite nice and had two tables full of local farmers who got together, laughing and sipping wine, probably after a hard day's of work. As a tourist, I'd say there was a lovely relaxed, quiet vibe around town.

Dobbiaco village is nothing special and very touristic but with amazing surrounding. Perfect location for bike rides. If you are looking for a good local beer go to a small beergarten in Villabassa (few km from Dobbiaco).
I recommend a walk to Monte Piazza, amazing view ... .
Rent a bike and wherever you ride (there are countless cycles paths) you'll find wonderful landscapes.

Great old Style Castle with all amenities ..beautiful rooms ..Sport facilities on tje premise and in the immediate surroundings
The owners and staff are very friendly !!
It’s a great vacation with family or Romantic
Very friendly family run hotel, ideally suited right across Toblach's bus station where the busses start that can take you to all the hiking spots in the Pustertal. Get up, get breakfast, get on a bus and start hiking. And what a breakfast it was, probably the best hotel breakfast buffet we've had in a long while. A great selection of fresh, local products, both sweet and savory and a great coffee to top it all of. And if you go hiking, pay a little extra for a lunchbox to help you get through those beautiful mountains.
First and foremost I have to give kudos to Lucia and Florian for providing great support. I also need to point out that (renovated) room was big enough for two persons to move around easily. The bathroom was very spacious as well. Free parking in the front of the hotel is a nice addon. One additional thing I need to commend are both the breakfast and dinners. Really tasty food eventhough I have missed some vegetables in the morning. Overall a great experience and will recommend further.
The hotel is located a short distance from Toblach in a rural area and a short drive to nerby ski lifts and cross country tracks. Parking is no problem. Staff is nice and helpfull. All facilities are really clean. You should bring your bathing trunks as the pool is a nice surprise. Breakfast was included in the price and was really nice. You should also seriouslly think about having a dinner at the hotel, as it was really tasty.
The lovable ladies who work there , the hotel how it’s clean , cosy with beautiful decor and views! The breakfast was so tasty , with lots of choices and natural products from Dobbiaco! I’ve loved all the details about this location, the staff were ao helpful and so welcoming, and the food was also delicious. The room is a 5 stars with a breathtaking view and balcony
such a beautiful building, a Grand Hotel in its heydays!! The staff was so helpful to navigate Italian websites so we can find out how to watch the Giro Italia in Tre Cima. The breakfast is wonderful and plentiful, the breakfast staff gave us bags to pack food, since we have to leave early for the Giro.
Good location, near to the Train Station. 15 minutes to bus station. Hotel has coffee shop, lobby area where you can set.
Breakfast and Excellent Dinner on board.
Able to put the luggage after check-out.
This hotel run by the family, expect the mother roaming around specifically in the dining room.
The hotel is nice and the staffs are very friendly! Especially the old gentleman who served breakfast in the morning, he is nice, fun, and with a sense of humor! The hotel room is clean and fresh with a balcony! Parking is free which is a big plus!
We definitely will come back to this hotel.
Nice hotel near the train station. We arrived late and started trekking in the Dolomites the next day, so the hotel was conveniently located. Room was small but clean and well maintained. Host offered to keep our bags for the duration of the trek (5 days) which was very helpful.
So clean and authentic. Toni and family were the best hosts who made us feel immediately at home despite a very late arrival due to unforeseen circumstances. woke up next morning to a gorgeous view of the mountains and Dobbiaco town below. Breakfast was wholesome and worth it!
Large room and closet.
Quiet cute town.
Good view from corridor.
Helpful staff.
Have elevator.
Have underground parking lot (access via tapping room card at its door). The parking lot behind the hotel may be hard to access because the large garbage bin may block the way.
Wonderful hotel with spectacular views of the Dolomites. Very clean. Good buffet breakfast, sweet and savoury with tasty homemade cakes and jams. We had dinner in the hotel terrace. The food was amazing!! Definitely recommended.
All in all, good value, very professional and friendly staff, extensive selection of spirits and wine to meet a discerning taste, food in hotel restaurant was outstanding - kudos to their chef on presentation and quality/taste!
Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Well maintained, clean hotel located a short drive from Dobbiaco's town centre, San Candido, Braies and several ski resorts. Very good breakfast and dinner.
Breakfast was incredible, lots of options that I really enjoyed. Staff are friendly, also love that it is dog friendly. Beds are comfy. The hotel was easy to access and get into at all times.
Well-managed hotel located close to the center of Dobbiaco. My room had a beautiful view. The breakfast was excellent. The owner personally manages the hotel and is very helpful.
The hotel is just steps away from the Dobbiaco train station so good for transit travel.
Very nice breakfast with good cappuccinos.
Great mountain views.
